Right. I know they don’t have presidents in the UK, but that’s the metaphor Alastair Crooke used in his latest provocative article:
Netanyahu paradoxically possesses more leverage over key institutional power-structures in the US than does the White House to pursue his government’s second “War of Independence”.
You’ll need to follow the link to read the title stuff—that actually comes in the second half of the article (worth the time to read it). The first half is all about the NATO rush to war, led by all sorts of “diverse”—not to say improbable—“leaders”, like what’s-her-name in Estonia saying: No negotiations until we bring Russia to her knees! But there’s more serious stuff going on, too, that points toward a bigger war, like, the US attacking Russian early warning radars.
But here’s the provocative thing that Crooke tells us:
Diverse European voices are desperately warning that with the Ukraine project spiralling towards débacle, a humiliated West is left with little choice but to escalate drastically, and bring NATO -- in some form, whether limited or not -- into the fight.
The former British (Conservative) MP Andrew Bridgen states that this strategic shift (whose speed caught the Europeans unawares), is forcing Europe to face war with Russia.
In fact, Bridgen warns: ‘We (Britain), are ‘already at war’ with Russia. This is the real reason, he explains, why Rishi Sunak has called an early election -- he refuses to be a ‘war time president’. He is effectively handing over ‘the baton’ to Keir Starmer (probably to fly away to California after 4 July -- voting day). “The Generals” have warned Sunak that the order ‘had come down’ for war with Russia. And Sunak does not wish to be part of it.
Whether Bridgen is right or not on the specifics, there is undoubtedly a chorus out there saying the same thing. Is this cacophony of sudden war warnings merely that which (Matt Taibbi calls) an example of the ‘Elephant Erasure Project’? By which we are constantly being instructed not to see the elephants in the room.
And there are a lot of them: Open borders; plunging standards of living; high prices; runaway debt and dropping ratings for Biden. Add to that, the White House is continuing to arm the Israelis and green-light the Rafah military operation -- at the very moment that the ICJ has ordered destruction of lives stopped. A plain oxymoron.
Of course, Team Biden is ‘not for turning’ on its “ironclad” support for the Israelis, yet the only thing that is clear is that the war-warning is not necessarily literally true -- except in wanting to truly scare and divert us from the ‘Elephants’.
“The 'informing class' now no longer even has the decency to tell us who, or what they are”. When one reads ‘news’, we have no idea whether it is an off-grid White House ‘briefing’, or one of those aggressive releases of intelligence, telling us yet again that truly Russia is on the ropes, and about to collapse.
Of course Andrew Bridgen is a known “conspiracy theorist”. I mean, he once said re the Covid Hoax: “As one consultant cardiologist said to me, this is the biggest crime against humanity since the Holocaust." Oh, woops! OK, so there’s an alternative. Maybe he’s a guy who knows a thing or two and is willing to share.
Yesterday Judge Nap discussed this article with Crooke. The Judge wanted to know more about that whole business of the Generals telling Sunak that “the order has come down”: war with Russia. How does that work, asked the Judge? Doesn’t the PM, like, run things? Crooke scoffed at that naive idea.
The Judge: Is the prime minister Rishi Sunak, does he control his generals or do they control him?
Crooke: You know, this sort of policy, these policy decisions are not done by the Prime Minister, not by Mr Sunak. I mean, he's just someone who's “it.” The generals were very clear. They said, the orders had come down, we're going to war with Russia. And this is why Sunak is, according to that former member of parliament, he's saying, that's why he's called a snap election. He doesn't want to be a war president, as he [Bridgen] put it. He's going to lose the election and probably take off for warmer climes somewhere else. So, no, they [the orders] come from somewhere else. That comes from deep within the Deep State. I “goose” all I can say, and it may have wider ramifications ...
So the answer looks like: Neither. The Deep State controls the PM and the generals. So it turns out there’s not that much difference after all between British parliamentary government and our own constitutional forms. It’s the Deep State all the way down.
But, as Crooke asks, What does it all mean? Is it some sort of elaborate charade? Perhaps part of a much bigger “fear narrative” to keep all the little people in line?
On the one hand, the very idea that Europe is equipped or capable to fight a real war is absurd. But equally, there are enough idiots around, hyped on delusions of long-past grandeur, to do something stupid. Interestingly, former British MP Andrew Bridgen implicitly acknowledges this risk, but adds that thank goodness it is Putin who stands on the other bank!
While on the other hand, everything in the West today revolves around the manipulation of narratives, and crafting the winning meme. The ‘other’ narrative to ‘coming war’ (according to Reuters) is that President Putin wants a Ukraine ceasefire ASAP -- and on current contact line frontlines -- because he is terrified at the prospect of having to launch a further mobilisation to finish the Special Operation.
This is pure disinformation, yet might it serve as the conjunct narrative to the fear narrative of the West resolving to walk the very edge of the precipice of war with Russia? And might this tight-rope policy be allowing the Biden Campaign to assert it is ‘winning’ in Ukraine; Putin is portrayed as trembling before the threat of war versus the Behemoth of the combined economic and military power of the West. A partial western Ukraine will indeed survive, according to this narrative, to become a future NATO and EU member.
We live in an age of narratives. Next question: Is our upcoming election already subsumed under some sort of narrative? I shudder.
Yeah, thank goodness it is Putin standing on the other bank. That is the reason that y'all are not radioactive cinders at the moment.
The perpetual warmongering and fear mongering amongst the elite is designed to do what? Enrich those who profit from war at our expense. I notice that these tiny NATO countries are the most belligerent. I analyze this entire situation in a simple minded way. I do not want my relatives conscripted to fight any wars anywhere regardless of what happens there. If there’s a direct attack on US soil then Congress can declare war on the aggressor and we can figure out where to go from there.
If Sunak is bailing because he doesn’t want to deal with the oncoming mess of a Ukraine Russia war with significant escalation, then he is wise, or maybe duplicitous.
The US military can’t build a small pier for less than $300M that won’t break apart in rough seas. How are we supposed to defeat the Russians?
