Russia says it cannot remain an observer forever while Israel continues to escalate.
"Israel, not Iran, is interested in escalation. I cannot make this any more clearer, Russia will not remain an observer and will take its responsibilities, look at Syria as an example" – Russian Foreign Minister
Given what I have read from different sources the last couple of weeks on Israel and the Israeli defense force they do not have the capability of invading Lebanon and taking on Hezbollah. I believe the long war in Gaza has weaken, the IDF and I believe Israel in general may be becoming war weary. Netanyahu’s position as Prime Minister I believe is becoming somewhat tenuous and I think his speech in welcoming in this country next week maybe a harbinger of things to come there already about 120 people in the house of representatives who have said they are going to boycott the speech.
If Israel had gone in last October, and retaliated, and then left, perhaps with a deal to get the hostages back, then that would’ve been fine nobody would’ve faulted them for retaliating against an attack on them. But dragging the war out like they have and coming across as systematically eliminating, everyone in Gaza has ended up costing them the support of a great deal of the world. The question is, will it be worth it and I think the short answer is no
I’ll be waiting to see what the receptionist for Netanyahu and how it is handled by the Biden administration.
And then, on top of all that, Israel is supposed to enter into a long range bombing campaign? Those US planes they fly are very high maintenance. This 3/4 of a year war has to have had a significant effect on readiness, just as it has had on the US military. Not to mention the overall effect on society and the economy. Casualties, reserves pulled from normal jobs. None of this makes sense.
Interesting and some good information (for example, about Vance's conversion to Catholicism and his being influenced by Rene Girard). That said, I am surprised and saddened to see how Ayaan Hirsi Ali has become so delusional regarding Ukraine.
Celia Farber had an excellent essay today on the Trump shooting and catharsis. It may be tangential to your point but it does point out how very much Americans' political positions have become based on emotion, and thus how quickly those positions can change. In other words, when things get real for people, their views can be radically reoriented in short order. Human nature? Take a look:
As many others have commented, they'll know their a war going on when the body bags start coming home. America isn't used to that and will question what it's all for. The US military is social welfare institution now. People don't join to die for places they can't locate on a map.
The people most in favor of war are those who won't be doing the fighting. I don't for a moment believe that young people will be flocking to join up, as is happening in Russia. Having a job paid for by the MIC is not the same as being willing to die for our politicians--as the politicians will soon find out.

Haven't read any of her stuff for a couple of years but that hit hard, and this line in particular:
”I’m not rich enough to hate Trump.”
There's a lot of _THAT_ about !
Think you’re speaking of my wife.

Just like Vietnam but with the internet.
And a MSM showing the sins of war eg. Cronkite.
Pareto Principle applies to your comment that our leaders come from us.
