It all depends on what GOP turns up on 1st Jan 2023.

• Some relevant items out today, starting with a new USA Today poll that not only finds surging Republican support, but that Republicans are drawing “40% of Hispanics and 21% of Blacks . . . To compare, Republican Donald Trump carried 12% of Blacks and 32% of Hispanics in the 2020 presidential election, according to network exit polls.”

This trend, if it continues, is an extinction-level meteor heading straight for the Democratic Party.

May it be so! No-one in their right mind should be voting Dem at this stage. There again, that's what Dem voters are - not in their right minds.

"Now, on the economy..." I hope readers pay close attention to what you have written. There is an article on reason.com titled "Biden and Journalists Agree: Republicans Would Deliberately 'Crash' the Economy But…does that make any sense?" Actually, it does. Our current boom, as you point out, is entirely based on massive government spending of non-existent dollars, much of this on gifts to foreigners, and a Ponzi stock market. The choice is to realistically cut the borrowing and increase real productivity, which would be neither pleasant nor painless, or at some time in the not too distant future face a debacle of unprecedented severity. I almost wish the Democrats would steal the midterms and then take full responsibility for the worst Depression in history.

Re: elections. In my state (NH) this guy Don Bolduc seems to have a chance at beating Maggie Hassan. She was likely to win but is being dragged down by the braindead doofus in DC. Polls put Bolduc even or within a point or so - definitely a chance to steal one. So what does The Turtle do? Pull all his ad money out of the state at the last minute. He is such a scumbag.

Hassan is running for her second term and given the area of the state she's in, if she wins again she'll be buried in like a tick, just like Shaheen and she'll never let go. Both her and Shaheen were "moderate" governors, as NH govs tend to be because of our 400+ person House of Representatives. Say what you will but having that many House members tends to keep things fairly tame. BTW, did I say Screw McConnell?? He is such an evil POS.

McConnell lost a couple of his 'yes' men when Blunt (MO) and Burr (NC) retired this cycle. Rick Scott (FL) seems to want McConnell's job. I don't know who is whipping votes in a GOP senate, but any new blood would likely align themselves against McConnell which is probably why he is blatantly supporting the quasi-democrat Murkowski (AK).

It's clear at this point McConnell is playing to save his OWN skin, openly backing Democrat candidates.

IMHO, his days are numbered in politics.

Maybe he can bunk with the Cheney's?

And for those who may not know this, McConnell then took the millions he pulled from Bolduc and gave it to Murkowski, who is running against another REPUBLICAN. That seat is guaranteed R no matter what, whereas NH is a GREAT shot at an R pickup.

And that’s the guy the Rs in the Senate choose to lead them.

Was initially bummed last year when Sununu declared that he'd seek to stay on as Governor than challenge for what seemed a very-winnable seat against Hassan. If Bolduc can pull this off, seems like a bigger win than Sununu would have been. McConnell seems to want to stay minority leader so he can continue the grift while having an excuse for not delivering results.

"One can’t help but wonder if the weapons and munitions sent to Ukraine and to NATO partners to backfill equipment shortages created by sending older arms to Ukraine were the reason for the increase in exports." Probably. Lord, forgive us.

“Republicans are learning how to handle” abortion. And who led them in this direction? None other than Donald J. Trump. When he positively went after Hitlery for condoning baby-killing on national television, I nearly fell out of my chair in shock. No politician in my lifetime EVER went there. Not even Reagan. But Trump did. God bless him.

We're hearing the rail strike could still happen at the cost of $2 billion/day to the economy and a body blow to the supply chain. Also, I read yesterday that the Mississippi River is so low that barge traffic is being affected - which is the transportation source for grain and minerals being produced in America's heartland before being trucked to processing plants.

When Biden and Klain plug one hole in their leaking dam, another one starts spewing out bad news. Still, it is really what Americans are currently seeing on a daily basis. High gas prices, high food prices, high interest rates for housing, rental market sky high. Most are no longer looking for whom to blame. He's sitting in a fog in the White House, spurned by most politicians in his own party.
