This is very grave and shocking, as it brings back 1914 and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo, not far from Bratislava, at the time called Pressbourg…the assassin then was a nationalist, today a “leftist” or globalist…may Fico survive this attempt on his life.
"Pro-Putin," "pro-Russia," "nationalist," "strongman," "right-wing," etc.--all descriptors used interchangeably by the MSM immediately before any mention of this guy. Had asked a HS buddy over there (a US-born Slovak-American who went over for med school and stayed) a while back about Fico, and he basically said that the PM was none of those things (other than putting national interests first) and that this was just "more the same sh!t" they did with Trump and Orban. It is, of course, the same "playbook" that readers here would already expect.
The Wikipedia rundown on Fico's party describes it as "left nationalist", which basically translates as populist in our terms. That made him a target for the opposition: Neoliberal lackies of the WEF and EU, and national interests are anathema to the globalists. Same as MAGA in that sense. Trump may not seem so different from the Uniparty in many respects, but the simple fact of his slogan MAGA makes him unacceptable just for planting the idea of national sovereignty in the minds of Americans.
