Mearsheimer is saying that US "ironclad" support for Israel attacking diplomatic establishments "makes a bad situation worse".

Making bad situations worse, that's the fruit produced by the neocon's orchard of poisonous trees.

Zhou saying the US doesn’t want war with Iran one day, and the next, “ironclad” support for Israel! Which is it? You can’t have your ice cream and eat it too. What a mess.

Типичное поведение англосаксов. Просто почитайте как Англия вступила в первую мировую войну, это даже в википедии написано. Они до самого конца дурили голову Германии, что останутся нейтральными.

Seems like Israel is trying to goad Iran to get the US involved with Hezbollah.

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail in Iran and the response will not be a pretext for a larger conflict.

Mark Wauck's avatar

Looks like a misspelling, провацировать = провоцировать

Why do you think the United States does not give Patriot missiles to Ukraine? Iran has already decided everything. The US/Israel will provoke Iran until it responds, after which it will declare Iran’s unprovoked aggression against peaceful Israel. The US did the same in Ukraine.

Netanyahu and Biden, peacemakers.

Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are willing to put aside a millennium of differences and conflicts?

I think it is time for people to perceive clearly what people are behind this. I am not claiming to know the answer. But that's the right question. You can't stop this without pulling it out by the roots. Those people, who are behind it, want us to get mad and fight against the enemy at hand.

Just a few examples:

Who benefits from Slavs killing Slavs?

Or Christians killing Muslims?

Or Germans killing Russians?

Or Poles, Czechs, Romanians, Lithuanians, etc., killing ______ ?

Or Americans killing Iranians (and Russians)?

Or Americans having hard-to-defend, and logistically-challenging, forward operating bases around the world?

Or Israelis killing Palestinians?

I don't think that it is the Chinese, fwiw.

Whose useful idiots are the Neocons?

Who talked the US into allowing a foreign invasion across her southern border?

I also intentionally asked the question about flesh-and-blood people. The Apostle Paul warned us that our real enemy isn't flesh and blood, also fwiw.

Doesn't it boil down to who really benefits? Who?

I know who doesn't and so does everyone on this blog, except those who Mark periodically bans....;o)

Our (America's) true allies are the ones not indulging in this:

Like the Russians in Ukraine

Like the Iranians regarding Syria

etc.

The flip flopping of the Biden Israeli Hamas policy is a sight, it seems to be depending on who made the most political noise the most recently. I don’t see a policy, but a lot of reacting mixed with a huge amount of hubris, on U.S. economic and military superiority. And an inability to see other sides Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran have free will and do not need to follow U.S. suggestions.

The West thought Russia would collapse after quickly the sanctions and thought the Russia military was hollow, and keep on doubling down on their efforts. There is no plan B, which as reality of their failure is sinking in, it’s causing a panic and a look for a scapegoat to blame.

Yeah, could be a sign of intra-regime policy turmoil--an unsettling thing in and of itself, if true. And wouldn't surprise me. Conflict between Neocons and domestic political realists? Anyone who thinks they can do a quick Iran war and everyone will forget by November is deluded.

What is even more disturbing is the nations who weren't mentioned in relation to this Israel/Iran situation: Russia and China. If Iran is forced to defend itself, I doubt that they will standby and do nothing. We seem to be faced with a terrible truth: the only way that the neocons will be stopped is by their utter humiliation on the battlefield and probably, by their physical destruction. I say only half in jest that it might be a good time for us all to stock up on basics, buy a bit of gold, and get right with God.

With inflation up and clear signals that the world is moving away from the USD, nobody should be surprised if this administration gets us into a major world war as a way to elide the financial disaster. People will put up with all sorts of deprivation if they are given enough war propaganda.

I wonder, though. Will people in the West really buy the "It's the Russkies and towelheads!" line this time? Maybe they will, but we live in strange times.

Imho, most people WILL believe the propaganda. The Ukraine war propaganda is still believed by most people. The Covid propaganda is still believed by most people. Even though the Covid lies were disprovable by trusting your own eyes. That wasn't enough for millions of people. The CIA has the psy-op down to a science. It really works.

Interesting, but I would take issue with the notion that Europe is a leader in the war, in the sense of European nation states. Rather, he should probably be talking about the NATO/Neocon/Globalist ruling class, which is ultimately beholden to US military power.

"incomprehension of current US two-facedness in its public statements of ironclad support for Israel (and prior refusal to condemn the Gaza assault)"

This just points back to my general impression that the chief objective of the Democrat party in the USA is the subjugation and impoverishment of the American middle class, and that no one in that party really gives much of a damn about what's going on around the world except as it allows them to (a) advance that objective and (b) get rich. This leads to stupid and incoherent decisions because the appeasement of this or that insane identity group is always first in their considerations.
