I’m with the Alexes on the Duran. Stay FAR away from all of this DJT. Fix America First. I still think that is what we will get. All of his comments are rhetoric only, he is not President yet.

Mark wrote: "Trump has now owned this. In writing. Stable genius? I have my doubts. Who thinks a demilitarized Syria will be anything other than a humanitarian catastrophe?"

With Assad gone, who will be in charge? Warring factions of terrorists will share power? Will the US feel compelled to "help". What happened to Iraq after the US killed Hussein? Or what happened to Libya after Gaddafi was killed? Assad is a bad dude, but what's in store for Syria may be worse.

It's still to early for anyone to know who prevails and what the situation will look like, but I'm betting it'll be worse.

In one fell swoop Iran has been caught with its pants down. One has to wonder just how effective Israeli (US) intelligence and strikes (pagers, phones, air strikes) have been.

Seems like the decapitation tactic has worked.

Not giving a shit and completing a long term objective are opposite ends of the spectrum.

So what on Trumps tweet. He’s not President yet. My guess is he is looking for an excuse to withdraw U.S. forces in Syria, and has stated it’s not the U.S. problem.

On insulting Russia, I don’t think it will influences Putin’s actions. It just makes the U.S. look worse to the rest of the world. And peace in Ukraine will be established due to Russian facts on the ground at the tip of Russian bayonets.

Reminds me of Afghanistan’s outcome. Perhaps it will go down the Libya outcome.

Ray says, "My guess is he is looking for an excuse to withdraw U.S. forces in Syria." Trump had no power to order US troop "withdrawal" in his 1st 4 yrs. Any such bravado on his part was easily deflated by either The Pentagon or Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans (as in early 2019). Trump knew the Pentagon ignored him entirely, so he tried to make it look like his idea. In April 2017 he publicly announced he was turning all military decisions over to "his generals" & the Pentagon bec. they're doing such a great job. As to Syria, Trump enforced illegal US annexation of 1/3 of Syria and served as a human shield protecting jihadists occupying Idlib (Syrian land) by threatening Syria and Russia with US punishment if they tried to free innocent Syrian citizens trapped in jihadist Idlib.

“He’s not President yet.”

Exactly. He’s not President yet, so why make these unnecessary belligerent comments that amount to a full-throated endorsement of the Anglo-Zionist project and the Biden admin’s policy. He didn’t need to say anything at all.

Yep. Thanks for making my point clearer. There was no other point in making those comments other than as a declaration of ownership.

“It seems the wrong people have gotten close to him and have his ear.”

At this point, to continue to believe as much, requires one to also acknowledge that the man is as weak-willed and stupid as many people have been saying he is over the past 9 years. Either that, or as Mark has posited, he simply dances for those who pay the piper just like a standard issue politician. I guess, both could be true. Regardless of which or both is true, the bottom line is betrayal.

Cass. says, "The bottom line is whether Trump can figure out a way to extract the US (and, frankly, the entire West)." Trump was never in charge of "figuring out a way" out of any foreign situation or proxy war in his 1st term. The entire world knew he was especially powerless in anything Russia-related. In Aug. 2017 congress removed all Russia matters from Don and gave them to the Senate. Medvedev commented at the time that Trump had been humiliated and obviously there would be no relationship with Russia for the next 4 yrs.
