Not long ago on today’s post—Euro Elites In Meltdown Following German Election—commenter Tristam brought up a relevant point that I didn’t have time to address:
He's a very interesting Man of God, I like it. It's about time a Catholic from USA would finally be elevated to the leadership of the Roman church. I don't think we need another third world Marxist asshole like Bergoglio. Europe is a dead secular society, Latin America remains fervent, but their history of poverty and ignorance and the current Papa should disqualify any of their Jesuits for a century or more. I weep for the Roman church, it's a mess.
The next pope will be a transexual from deepest, darkest Africa!!
The Rothchilds own the Vatican, like they do western Europe, don't expect any change back to whatever it was the Roman Catholic Church was supposed to be.
The Vatican needs a DOGE/Musk whose Job One would be to extricate Juan Zarate:
"In June 2014, Zarate accepted an appointment to the Board that oversees the Vatican's Institute for the Works of Religion [IWR], a move announced by Cardinal Pell of the Vatican Finance Ministry as part of Pope Francis I's efforts to clean up the finances of the Vatican."
Don't believe for a minute that the job was to "clean up" Vatican finances. IWR is Vatican version of USAID.
Zarate came to the job after stints in US Treasury where he was a charter-member of Office of Terrorist Finance: "he led Treasury's domestic and international efforts to disrupt [read: re-direct] terrorist financing."
I assume the current pope has done to the college of cardinals, as Obama did to the U.S. military’s leadership, and curated people with similar cultural beliefs as him.
I wonder what influence Trump being president will have on the selection of the next pope, especially with USAID being neutered and the U.S. Intel agencies under new management.
Obama had huge influence for getting the previous pope to resign, due to using swift to cut off the Vatican bank due to corruption, unless there were changes (like a new pope).
And it sounds like the Catholic charities made a lot of money off refugee resettlement in the U.S., which they are during Trump for.
JPII: evangelist, artistic, poet, actor, get back to nature.
Benedict XVI: Theologian who recognized that he and others had made missteps in the 60s and that his time as the Bishop of Rome was not the time for a theologian (the people that needed to hear him would not have from his perspective).
Francis: the cop/enforcer (recognizing that he was ordained a Jesuit, but one that the Jesuits have not wanted), Church needed to focus on saving souls more and less on wider culture and politics. To do this meant cutting out the Curia, which has quite remarkably done! He had intended to write his doctoral work on Guardini. See chapter 3 of Laudato Si, for what may be his most public writing on concerns about science’s and technology.
The Church retains quite uniquely much of its Medieval corporate structure. There is no centralized power strictly speaking. The Magisterium is the magisterium, and does not need central “enforcement,” at least that has been the thinking.
So we are in the Digital Paradigm. So now what? There is a massive move worldwide to retrieve spirituality/religion. Much enthusiasm for embracing what most have thought they never would be able to. Total lack of trust in the West in…everything. No thought that politics is the way forward. Much recognition that the West abandoned its civilizational roots: for liberals this means abandonment of Modernity, for conservatives this means Modernity wiped out what came before. The collapse of the West has been talked about, particularly by Germans, of which Guardini participated, for nearly 200 years. No trust. No consensus. Technology threatens humans and makes humans have to think about humans as ensouled beings in non modern ways.
The “Church” is made up of humans. Just like everything else on the planet. All the challenges present in the wider culture are present among those in the Church.
Interesting to see how so many who said there was no need for a god/religion since the 60s have changed their tunes in recent years. Digital has essentially changed and scared the crap out of everyone: what have we wrought?
There is a new culture war brewing: what about the humans? It is worldwide.
Prediction: the US and much of the West is not the top of mind concern for Cardinals and Conclave. Frankly we are something of outliers and a pain (how many in the West talk about illegitimate popes?). There are more Catholics and Christians in China than people in the US…Africa and the lower Americas are growing parts of the Church, as is Asia. These places don’t buy our “propaganda,” and are more serious in their faith than most in the West.
Lastly, there is a massive generation gap hitting here and around the world. The young simply do not look at things as we have. They have been brought up by the tech and small screens. Even for those not in the Roman Rite, say Orthodox, they still tilt at times towards Rome regarding morality. The young want clear answers about how to live their lives. The particulars of time and place (and traditions) matter.
One can view the next Bishop of Rome as having great opportunity…in a world potentially more dangerous than anything we have ever experienced. The Church did not understand the formation that Television would provide, and suffered because of it. It will certainly miss some regarding Digital.
Wojtyła was a total philosopher wannabe--that was the core of his identity. A cursory perusal of his bibliography will tell you that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_John_Paul_II_bibliography. As will his efforts to hang out with phenomenologists like Gadamer.
Bergoglio was a complete political animal, focused on this worldly salvation. Every biography of him is clear on that as are his encyclicals.
Bergoglio’s is indeed a “capo” regime — a cross between the Lavender (or, if you prefer, Pink) Mafia, Peronist dictatorship and, God help us, literal Satanic coven. Such a mob is as violent as you might imagine. Archbishop Vigano has good reason to keep his whereabouts secret.
Case in point: the shocking circumstances of Cardinal George Pell’s death and the post-mortem desecration of his body:
I didn't care for how Bergoglian took care of the legacy of Pope Benedict XVI. I recall you writing about this in the past some time after Benedict passed away. Bergoglian's refusal to properly acknowledge Benedict and his legacy, plus the foundational elements of Latin mass et al. That bothered me then and today I still have trouble with empathy for Bergoglian as a result.
I hope they realize they go broke without choosing a faithful and chaste man as the next pope. Elections have consequences.
"Out of 138 Cardinals eligible to vote for the next Pope – under the age of 80 – no less than 110 were appointed by Pope Francis – about 80 percent."
Is this a recipe for a breakup?
I nominate Archbishop Vigano, restore him, and make him the Bishop of Rome.

Vigano is very much an Italian. Though he was nuncio to the U.S. at the end of Benedict’s pontificate and beyond by a year or two.
The next pope will be a transexual from deepest, darkest Africa!!

Maybe it’s time to search the African continent for a new pope?
Nigerian Cardinal Francis Arinze was in mind for papacy post- JPII era, but he is now 92, although he is still active and outspoken.
Interesting! We need someone younger though - of the age of JPII when he became pope.
I assume the current pope has done to the college of cardinals, as Obama did to the U.S. military’s leadership, and curated people with similar cultural beliefs as him.

Bergoglio: Marxist in a Mitre.
I wonder if the ‘Euro clerics’ hold much value to Catholic prophecy, Malachi, Jehenny and Fatima.
If the global South Cardinals vote in a traditionalist the Euro clerics will surely create a ruckus.
Contrarian thoughts ;)

Not contrarian--just totally incorrect.

Jerk free zone.
