And it wasn’t about the weather, or sports news that they were communicating. One of the commenters states:

It's hard to know what to think about Durham in light of Barr's betrayals. From all that I've heard since his appointment, I find it hard to believe that Durham is to be trifled with or in any way compared to the likes of Mueller.
Perhaps Barr saw a legitimate opportunity to hurt the Dems and did not feel that his efforts to remove Trump would be harmed by a serious investigation.
