If any of you have read The Fourth Turning it seems to me that Trump is today's Gray Champion mentioned in one of the chapters. I believe we are currently in the Fourth Turning for this 100-year (approximate) cycle, and that it began sometime after Obama entered the White House. Extreme events happen during a Fourth Turning such as the American Civil War and World War II. This country, and indeed the entire world, seems hellbent on bringing about the biggest catastrophe the world has yet witnessed.

Hard to disagree.

Exactly right about Trump. Most of us were pretty naive about the extent of the Deep State's malevolence until Trump came along. However, if I were American I'd vote for him just as a protest vote, not in the hope that he would achieve anything.

I’m American. That’s my plan

Mine too! Let these idiots know the line they are facing.

I might fly over from the Old Continent to vote for him too. I've heard that that kind of thing is quite easy! :)

Oh, it is, Steghorn Multiple times over.

Do you by chance know anyone in the U.K. with the initials I.B.B.? He would be in his mid to late 50's, and have gone to the U. of Essex in Colchester. Definitely a Brexiteer.

"the Empire calls the shots" except that the Empire is on a collision course with reality. So they get their Big Brother, and he does his thing, but neither the citizens nor facts on the ground are likely to cooperate. It will be interesting. I miss Trump. He dealt with reality, and did the best he could under the circumstances.

Agreed, Perle. Something big is brewing Left Field. I think we all sense that here. We don't quite know what it is - economic mayhem. Ukraine backlash, new revelations about Biden - but whatever it is will very likely hurt the Deep State badly.

I thought the killing of Soleimani was a positive. He was at war with the US, and incredibly effective.

The example of Trump trying to withdraw from Syria is an example of the resistance he faced.

Trump was the first President to effectively push back against China.

Broken record, I know, I’m still surprised at how much Trump got done with all the forces, bipartisan, against him.

Two impeachment and four criminal indictments! Plus the fbi wire tapping him. Not to mention the willful blindness of the fbi, doj, and courts on the election fraud. Plus the independent council Mueller.

"I thought the killing of Soleimani was a positive."

How much of the rest of the world saw it that way? It's turning out to be a bit like the US seizing other countries' money.

"At war with the US"

My understanding is that the US is present in Syria against the express will of the Syrian government, whereas Soleimani was there and in Iraq with the express permission of those governments. Who was at war with whom?

Yes, Syria is a good example of how presidents don't control policy. Syria demonstrated that in re Obama as well as Trump.

Yep, Trump wouldn't play ball in Syria. It was a big deal.

The sentence beginning "The people for whom you are permitted to vote......" just about sums up exactly how I feel after months of reading substacks from various contributors. In general, I think anyone who actually runs for office, local or nationally, gets the full-on "attack" treatment where all of their life secrets are exposed and their families harassed. So our politicians are not necessarily the best and the brightest. I would guess the real "Power Cabal" funds the attacks to keep decent people from running for office. They were not prepared for Trump, however. The information we are lacking is who are the "Power Cabal" members. I wish Trump would expose exactly who is running the world but maybe he can't yet do that.

Both Luongo and Simplicious (among others) have discussed who “They” are, although it may not be that simplistic. Luongo refers to them as “Davos.” A few months ago I was sharing a lot of this stuff with a newer friend when I came across this from Simplicious and shared it with him:

“But recall, there are two opposing camps in the West—the hardliners and the ‘sane’ crowd. The hardliners will continue pushing for escalation because their masters at the top of the elite pyramid will never allow Russia to secure any type of decisive victory, no matter how many people die, because for them it is existential. With Russia’s victory will come the eventual collapse of the entire Western order, which means the hundreds of years old banking cabal that has ruled the globe with an iron fist. Those ancient families at the top cannot allow Russia to win.“

I do also believe Will is correct in likening things to a metastasizing cancer. I had that very thought the other day, myself. But Simplicious’ reference to a power pyramid seems fitting, too. It starts at the top, a cabal which wields tremendous power, but by no means ends there, as far as I can tell.

There's a cabal indeed, and they have been at the top of the heap for life times. But God remains on His Throne, can cast them down any time He wants to, and one day He will. May we all live to see that day! And whether we do or do not, it will come.

You bring to mind the anticipation during 2016 that if Trump was nominated, let alone elected, he would be a very fat target for successful opposition research and easily shot out of the sky.

But as it turns out, they had nothing more than what we already knew about Trump's publicly extravagant and maritally messy life. There were no real scandals sufficient to the task to take him out, before or after the election, so they had to manufacture scandal. Amazing.

Expand full comment

Yes, when people talk about Trump being "self-centered, self-promoting" and they talk about his personality, that is the key factor driving the Trump derangement syndrome! Without his "bigger than life" persona, none of this reveal of the "Deep State" control of America would have happened. His "carnival barker" attack is exactly what was needed to expose everything. I still cannot believe all the clueless people out there, including many I know. I have given up arguing with them.

Maybe he’ll smuggle it out from jail

I assume the chosen will be Newsome, but how can a messy primary be avoided?

Can Trump beat Newsome? IDK. The obvious time to impeach Biden is summer 2024. Everyone will be exposed to the evidence as the election approaches. He will almost certainly resign blaming age in response to avoid airing all the corruption. No replacement will be approved by the GOP controlled house, but Harris will bring in Newsome as her chief adviser and spokesman. He will be defacto President and run as an incumbent. Harris will pardon the Biden family in the name of "Moving on".

I’m still thinking Big Mike will be installed. “They” have become so bold and arrogant now that they enjoy flaunting it, and rubbing our noses in it, so to speak.

Trump can easily beat Newsome. What he can't beat is voter fraud.

Yes.

There are plenty of reasons to not like Trump. There are also plenty of reasons to argue he could have done better in his presidency (just as there are counter arguments that he did as well as he could under the circumstances).

But I continue to believe that he has far and away the most committed and passionate following. He is by far the most courageous politician we have seen in our lifetimes. His policies are best for America.

In a fair election, I think he beats Biden or Newsome or Mrs. Obama. He would win more votes than any of them would.

In a fair election.

Trump does seem to love America, Cassander, and has courage in truck loads. These two facts make him almost unique at that level. And he did face massive obstacles. However, I just don't see how a second term would be any different from the first. There is no sign that his people-picking skills have improved, and he just doesn't have the finesse to get around the Deep State. If he doesn't end up in jail, the elections will be stolen from him.

Which is kind of a bleak assessment because if the alternative is Ramaswamy he will have to capture the enthusiasm of Trump’s base, beat back the MSM which will assault him too and then if he wins make good appointments (at least no Jared. and Ivanka) and then find a way to defeat the Interagency. Can he do it?

Expand full comment

I initially liked the Rama as a potential VP or an alternative to vote for as Pres. if they do manage to completely sideswipe Trump. But I've come to the conclusion that he's a plant, he's not legitimately one of us. I had started to feel that way, then Mark had an article pointing towards that, which confirmed my gut feeling on him. I would rather be wrong about that, but don't want to be fooled either.

Expand full comment

In terms of pure political solutions, my assessment is even bleaker, Cass. I don't think ANYONE as POTUS can take on the Deep State and win. They are too deeply entrenched. I believe these psychopaths will be defeated but it won't be by the usual political means. It will come about through dissension in their own ranks, a military coup, or most likely, some acute crisis that sparks a rebellion further down the food chain at state or even lower level.

One can gauge Trump’s effectiveness, both during his presidency and afterward, by the intensity and fury of the attacks against him.
