The modern battlefield ‘grey zone’ advantaging the defender has Israel in a bind. Their neighbours learned their lesson and will no longer come at them in vulnerable armoured columns. They’re happy to sit and wait it out and Israel can’t afford an attritional conflict.

Israel wants to attack but knows it can’t, all that it has at its disposal is the US military or nuclear weapons.

I'm thinking the state of Israel, residing on the Mediterranean which is attached to the Atlantic ocean should be encouraged to join NATO like Ukraine. Or at worst, create a similar organization called MATO.

Interesting choice of a colloquial phrase, it’s not only politically incorrect, but it’s also pretty dated.

Haven’t heard that phrase since college. D’you think their sophistication level is high enough for them to be poking fun?

No. I hate to think that we have reached the point where our hope for avoiding Armageddon is in Biden articulating his puppet masters' words correctly. But here we are. I have never believed Biden personally has any authority. Yet, somebody puts words in his mouth (even if the words don't make their way out). How will we ever know what faction is actually in control at any given time and what their intent is?

Yeah but given his mental capacity he has become a "loose cannon." He is prone to saying things HE thinks from time to time rather than how he has been programmed to speak. That is one reason why I think more and more Dems would like to see him replaced as their candidate. They need a better talking head.

Yes, the “loose cannon” metaphor does apply to certain stages of dementia…aptly describes sort of shooting (!) off your mouth or saying whatever cones to mind…handlers having trouble handling…

Brandon is absento cranio and not in charge, but he may as well be - the US as well shouldn’t be ‘retarded’.

To adjust a bit - One in three Neocons is just as stupid - and evil - as the other two.

Both are operative. All the sovereignty in the world won't help Israel without US support. Without US support Israel is kaput.

US reps kowtowing has absolutely nothing to do with Israel's sovereignty or with any inherent Israeli power. It's all about Jewish political influence within the US system and the foreign policy priorities of American Jews.

No mystery here.

No. The American Empire is NOT dependent on "Israel." Only American politicians are. Put it this way, American politicians are BEHOLDEN to "Israel" but the Empire itself is not in any material way DEPENDENT. It's a systemic problem in the US political system. Neither Israel nor "Israel" have any inherent power over the American Empire as a geopolitical entity. Only over the politicians.

Cassender, I think the operative word here should be reliant, not dependent. As Mark says our politicians are reliant on Israel Lobby and Jewish Oligarch money. Also our government, or better yet, the regime is reliant on Zionist power to effect our finance in banking, MSM for disinformation and propaganda and friendly news reporting shielding the regime, lawfare obstruction in our legal system and activist judges in our courts, Hollywood to shape our culture, medical doctors and hospitals to help the pharmaceuticals addict us to drugs and vaccines that harm us, and sexual exploitation through misguided policies and subversion of morals.

Think of in terms of a Lord-Vassal relationship. The lord commands and controls the vassal, but the lord also depends on the vassal for resources, manpower, etc. The vassal does not necessarily need (or “depend on”) the lord, but the lord certainly needs the vassal.

What else is Bibi communicating when he indicates that he knows how to make the U.S. do what he wants it to do? His point is that he can get it to do what would otherwise not be in its own interest. Behold, the tail really does wag the dog

The Jews in Israel are on the losing end of demographics. That situation will only get worse from their perspective. In addition Iran will only get stronger militarily, especially in conjunction with support from Russia and China. The Saudis and other nations in the region have now aligned with BRICS (or are in process of aligning with them) rather than the West (the Abraham Accords being a distant memory). I believe Israel has the feeling that it is now or never if they are to retain a projectable force in the region - an ability they feel they need to have in order to survive as a nation.

What do you think of the fact (if it is) that Saudis (and Jordan) joined US/Israel in shooting down the Iranian drones and missiles? Where DO the Saudis stand?

Expand full comment
Mark Wauck's avatar

My guess is that in the case of the Saudis they allowed use of their air space, rather than participating more actively. Air space over eastern Jordan would have been very crowded. US has large airbases in KSA. I wouldn't be surprised if, as Castelletto says, Saudis played both sides, sharing info with Iran. This was not a big deal. As numerous commenters have said, the cheap drones are sent precisely TO BE SHOT DOWN. I.e., to force opponents to use up expensive defense missiles and other resources (flying modern fighters is a very expensive proposition), to reveal locations of AD sites, to clear the way for the ballistic missiles.

Yes, but sorry. We all know that the world's bad guys are the ones who cannot be named...

What choice they have? They have no escape pod...for where? Antarctica? Estancia San Ramon aka Bariloche? The moon?

Their only choice, if You think, are going in flame in a short burst, or going in flame in the long run... no future is possible where they are squatters... not after what the whole world have seen...

Really speaking, now that the emperor is naked for all to see...
