That’s the question my wife keeps asking me. If I were a betting man, which I’m not—I’m reflexively cautious except when offering opinions—I would bet that Zhou will never be impeached. Or not soon. Never is a word that should never be used in a serious political discussion.
To understand this, the first question you need to ask who ‘they’ are. ‘They’ is the House GOP. They’re the ones who decide whether to impeach Zhou. They could do it tomorrow—if they wanted to. The evidence is all there, and has been for a long time. Everyone—and especially Bluto Barr—knew from well before the 2020 election that Zhou would be perhaps the most eminently impeachable “president” in US history.
The next question would be, Why should the GOP impeach Zhou? Some might say that America doesn’t deserve a POTUS who’s as corrupt as Zhou is, but—sad to say—there are strong arguments against that position. Since impeachment is a political decision, the GOP leadership is most probably looking to possible political benefits.
So the third question, which flows from the second. Who would benefit most from a Zhou impeachment? I would argue that the Dems would benefit most. Potentially. I don’t have a crystal ball with which to peer into the future, but at this point, if I’m Speaker Kev, I’d be concerned that a Zhou impeachment—an actual impeachment, not just talking about it—might help the Dems climb out of the deep hole they’re digging for themselves. Remember—impeachment is a political decision. There’s no Constitutional Court that decides these things. Politicians make the decision, which means that the analysis that precedes the decision is normally a political cost - benefit analysis. A GOP initiated impeachment would tend, in the long run, to take the Dems off the hook.
As things stand now, most Dems would certainly luv to be rid of Zhou and his scabrous family. Two things are holding them back. First, Kama Sutra. Second, the Dems as a party are as scabrous as the Zhou family. Further, as I’ve maintained in the past, Zhou may be the most corrupt of the corrupt—that’s a reasonable position, in my view—but there’s plenty more corrupt politicians on both sides in DC that Zhou knows all about. Ukraine was a Uniparty trough, and I would bet every dollar I possess that, if the collective Deep State has nightmares, those nightmares would involve Ukraine connected secrets going public. Zhou and Hunter may be dumb—the Burisma guy, Zlochevsky, reportedly said Hunter is dumber than a dog—but they certainly know many secrets.
For Dems, the safer option—the least bad option—is to try to wait this thing out. Or, to wait for public pressure to build and let the GOP lead the way. That would ensure that secrets are protected. Hopefully it would force a resignation at that point. But the Dems wouldn’t be in the position of defenestrating their own guy. That’s important for them, because their base still likes a lot of the stuff that’s currently going down in this country, and don’t particularly give a hoot about corruption. If you doubt that, just look at Dem run localities.
For the GOP, on the other hand, waiting this thing out is probably better than a “least bad” option. As long as Zhou is still wandering around the OO, wondering where he is, the GOP gets to keep bringing up his life’s work—influence peddling and every sort of corruption ill gotten gains can buy. From a political standpoint, where’s the benefit in moving on from that? Of course the corruption pot could reach a boiling point and force the impeachment hand, but presumably at that point things would be so dire that Zhou would no longer dare to spill the beans. Again, why push matters prematurely? Waiting is playing it safe, while milking the Zhou family soap opera for all the political benefit it’s worth. Timing is everything in life, and that means in politics, too. The American public has a notoriously short attention span. Why help the Dems move past this farcical regime by jumping the gun on impeachment?
So, that’s where we stand, from where I stand.
Now, check this out. Anyone who thinks the US can turn around its military preparedness, can recharge it’s MIC, get a load of this—TSMC is the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company: [“It is the world's most valuable semiconductor company, the world's largest dedicated independent ("pure-play") semiconductor foundry,” etc.]

And yet many people continue to believe the US could "flip a switch" and become the "Arsenal of Democracy" in a few months or so.

TSMC is delaying its US plant: "TSMC Chairman Mark Liu said construction in Arizona is hampered by a shortage of skilled workers and that the company might have to bring in experienced technicians temporarily from Taiwan. He said this would delay the start... until 2025." (WSJ)

Greenlighting Over-The-Counter Birth Control, The FDA Puts Women’s Health Last
Along with Opill, increased abortions, promiscuity, STDs, cancer, and support for sex trafficking are all approved and moving to market.
Big Pharma is not about health. Not for individuals, not for society. But that doesn’t make them much different from most other power players in our country.
On that Taiwan Semiconductor plant, that does not surprise me at all. I'm retired now, but I worked in construction for almost 40 years--mostly home remodeling, but some new construction in the early years. We had a labor shortage in the building trades back in the '90s! Not enough young people were going into the trades. The last new house I worked on was in 1997. The whole couple of weeks our crew was there, doing exterior wood trim on a brick house, I only saw one man who looked to be under 30. I was the youngest in our crew at 47 back then.
This is a factor that is seldom mentioned in current housing costs and the shortage of housing in the US. I do not watch TV (I have not owned one for thirty years), but I really appreciate Mike Rowe and his efforts to promote the building trades and other lines of work that young people are mostly avoiding. I have a college degree and some grad work myself, but I figured out in my 20s that I enjoyed working with my hands, and I could get good at it.
1st) don't touch Zhou; let him and his administration and all the Democrats self-implode. Gift to Republicans.
2nd) Taiwan elections in early 2024 will position new China friendly leaders in place. in turn, the slow and steady pivot to "One China" will take place with no war. That'll disappoint a few NeoCon's but oh well.
3rd) TSMC delay is by design in support of #2 above.
