In the past few days we’ve heard reports about the rocket attack on the significant Al Assad US air base in western Iraq. There were casualties among US troops, but details are hard to come by. The attack was conducted by one of the Iraqi militias that had been targeted by the Anglo-Zionists in the past—a revenge strike, but coming at a time of tension. These are the militias that have been targeting Israel and sometimes US bases with drones and cruise missiles from western Iraq.
This morning comes news of an offensive in eastern Syria, on the east bank of the Euphrates river, by Arab tribal militias loyal to the Syrian government. This region is held by the US/Kurdish forces and is a significant oil producing area—in the past the oil has been typically trucked through Turkey and exported to Israel.
Again, this new offensive is coming at a time when the US is trying to concentrate on other things, and one presumes that behind the tribes and the Syrian government the Russian forces in Syria are also providing support. This may be part of an emerging strategy of waging economic war on the Anglo-Zionists in combination with local attacks to keep US forces off balance. However, these attacks may ramp up in the future. There have been repeated reports over the last weeks that Russia was on the verge of providing the Houthis with more advanced weaponry but drew back after urgent “pleas” from both the Saudis and the US. A calculated ramping up of such support may be in the cards.

After continuous training received by the clan forces during the past months, the Arab tribal forces led by Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Haffel launched a violent attack on the largest in the cities and towns of Deir Ezzor. They took control of several militia points in the city of Al-Busayrah and the towns of Ibriha, Al-Harijiya, Al-Tayana, Abu Hamam, Gharanij, Al-Kashkiya, Dhiban, Al-Latwa neighborhood, and all the river bed points.
They completely destroyed several points and three Hummer vehicles on the road to the American occupation base in the Al-Omar field. They killed and wounded a number of militia members, including two leaders, and captured a number of others and fled, seizing weapons, ammunition, snipers and military vehicles for them.
The operations of the tribes are still ongoing, as Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Haffel, the commander-in-chief of the Arab tribal forces was communicated with and confirmed to the announcement of the general mobilization and that the battles will continue until our Arab land is cleansed of the Qandil militia supported by the American occupation forces.
There is an attempt by the militia members with the support of the American occupation forces to regain the points by bombing civilian gatherings with drones launched from their bases in the Al-Omar oil field and the Conoco gas field.
_________
With the dawn call to prayer and with artillery fire, the Arab tribal forces begin a large-scale attack on the positions of the SDF militia east of Deir Ezzor and take control of several villages and towns on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River opposite the city of Al-Mayadeen and its countryside. Continuous battles and a high alert for the American occupation forces in the Al-Omar and Conoco fields.

Ukrainian forces have invaded the Kursk Oblast of Russia, which I would characterize as NW of Kharkov along the NE border of Ukraine with Russia. I assume this is a more of a PR stunt than anything serious—to distract from continued rapid Russian progress in Donbass—and will be crushed. At the same time, it’s larger than previous attempts to raid Belgorord, and I can’t imagine the Russian command is pleased. Via Rybar, a rather granular account:
The situation in Kursk region - what is known as of 13:00
Throughout the night and morning, Ukrainian formations attempted to expand the part of Kursk Oblast under their control. According to the latest information, since the beginning of the offensive, Ukrainian Armed Forces units have occupied several settlements in the region.
In the northwestern sector, the enemy reached the outskirts of Leonidovka along the Rylsk - Sudzha highway, in the area of which Ukrainian formations came under fire from Russian troops and suffered losses in manpower and equipment.
At the same time, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced from the Nikolayevo - Daryino - Daryino - Nizhniy Klin line to a depth of more than three kilometers, establishing control over Obukhovskaya , Pokrovsky , Tolstoy Lug and Lyubimovka .
To the southeast, the enemy captured the Sudzha gas metering station , through which gas is transited to Europe through the territory of the so-called Ukraine. The facility itself is located in close proximity to the checkpoint of the same name.
According to incoming information, units of the Russian Armed Forces were able to dislodge Ukrainian formations from Goncharovka , a western suburb of Sudzha . However, the enemy retains control over the remaining section of the 38K-004 highway.
Ukrainian formations continue to strike throughout the Kursk region - Sudzha remains under the heaviest fire. According to official data, five people have been killed in two days, at least 24 have been injured, including six children.
According to footage published by the enemy, yesterday a Ukrainian FPV drone hit a Russian Mi-28 helicopter in the tail boom, which was the first such documented incident. The aircraft suffered damage to the tail rotor and landed, the crew is alive.
The Ukrainian command continues to concentrate forces in the Yunakivka rural community in the Sumy region. Concentrations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are also recorded in Yunakivka itself, as well as in the village of Kiyanitsa , located to the southwest.
Meanwhile, in another part of Sumy Oblast, a concentration of enemy forces is observed in the forests near the village of Privolye to the east of the city of Glukhov . As we have already noted, from here the Ukrainian Armed Forces can advance either along the highway through the Krupets checkpoint or from the direction of the Krasny Peredovik farm.
At the moment, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command is forming two groups, one of which is concentrated in the Yunakovskoye rural community , and the other in the Glukhovsky district. And if the first one is partially introduced into the territory of the Kursk region, the other one has not yet begun to move.
At the same time, Rylsk may become a common target for the groups - Ukrainian formations from the Sudzhansky district were able to advance somewhat towards it overnight, but the E38 highway leads to it from the Privolye side.

A general assessment of what this is about:
Lanceload @Lanceloadin
It's difficult to understand the reasons for this Ukrainian incursion across the Russian border - other than getting some quick headlines in Western media - which it has managed to do!
The Guardian's headline "Russia does not control Kursk border" is one of their big stories of the day - though it hardly reflects the truth on the ground in Ukraine!
The actual incursion - of around 300 troops cannot possibly be a serious attempt to capture Russian territory in the long term, or divert a significant amount of Russian troops from other areas - as it appears to be Ukrainian forces that are stretched thin to breaking, not Russian forces, as Russian troops appear to vastly outnumber the Ukrainians.
So in the coming days - Ukrainian forces will no doubt be forced to retreat when faced with inevitable overwhelming Russian reinforcements coming into the area - but their mission to get headlines - and 'prove' to the world their front lines are not rapidly collapsing will have been accomplished.
The real truth is - The collapse of Ukrainian Eastern front is rapidly accelerating - and they don't want that fact to appear in Western headlines!
Nui York, a very highly fortified settlement, which has been on the front line since 2014 is about to fall to the Russians - Krasnohorivka another fortified town which has been on the front lines since 2014 is about to fall to the Russians. The road from Kostyantynivka to Vuhledar has been cut leaving Vuhledar vulnerable, while Kostyantynivka itself is now under partial Russian control and is looking increasingly susceptible to further losses.
The front around Ocheretyne is still rapidly collapsing, as the Russians seemingly unstoppable advance westward continues after the fall of Avdiivka - a town which was reputed to be the most heavily fortified in Europe.
The Ukrainians are having desperate problems mobilizing sufficient troops to cover their losses - their air defense is in dire straits, and the Russians rule the skies, while the Ukrainian economy has just been declared 'SD — selective default'.
Things are really not looking good for Ukraine!
But hey - 300 Ukrainian troops stormed a lightly protected section of the Russian border - and it is this tiny, almost insignificant skirmish, that makes the headlines in the West!

Neocons never seem to learn that PR stunts don’t sway the Russians.

The Ukraine action justifies Russia to take more territory with another front to establish more of a buffer area. Just like happened in Kharkiv
