Ukraine Under The Gun: Launch Offensive Or Else?

There are numerous reports out that the Ukrainian military is increasingly reluctant to launch it’s much bruited Spring Offensive, using the mixtum gatherum of largely outdated NATO castoff equipment that has been sent to Ukraine. Ukraine’s military head, General Zaluzhny, is now said to be trying to delay the launch date until the end of June, at which time some speculate that a further delay will be put in place. The reason is simple: Ukraine’s professional military knows that the offensive would be suicidal. Ukrainian losses of manpower continue to be extremely heavy—Russia is claiming that Ukraine lost 15,000 men in April. Losses of equipment are reaching catastrophic levels as well, as Russian attacks have heavily targeted assembly areas for munitions and equipment.

Nevertheless, for political reasons, the American Deep State, led by Hillary gofers Sullivan and Blinken, are reported to be sending the bad news message to Ukraine: Launch the offensive or lose our support. As confirmation that that’s what’s in the works, I offer one of the top GOP mindless war mongers:

The Borg Cube-Tatanka

No more military aid for UA without counter success !!!!!

[Video of Mike McCaul]: If Ukraine is successful in the eyes of the world and of the American people I think it will be a game changer for continued support. Uh, if they are not, that will also have an impact in negative way, though.

@GeromanAT

well - "a game changer for continuing support" means that it is clear that the support is going to end if the game is not changing - (very telling)

Cynical observers have suggested that Ukraine is being set up to facilitate the US exit from the war. Who knows?

Now, with regard to some pretty drastic Russian force degradation inflicted on Ukraine, which is certainly a factor in the Ukrainian reluctance to attempt an offensive …

In response to some pinprick Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory in Crimea and elsewhere, Russia launched massive reprisal strikes:

NIGHTMARE IN UKRAINE: RUSSIAN RETALIATION STRIKES HIT STRATEGIC MILITARY FACILITIES

Explosions thundered in different regions of Ukraine, including Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. At least five explosions thundered in the city of Kramatorsk, which is an important railway hub used for the supply of the Ukrainian military in the Donbass.

According to the estimates from the Ukrainian side, more than a hundred cruise missiles, as well as several dozen kamikaze drones were allegedly involved in the attack. However, Kiev is in no hurry to disclose the damage.

…

The head of the office of the Ukrainian president was forced to urgently appeal to Ukrainians in the middle of the night with a request not to publish videos of the explosions and not to disclose the work of the Ukrainian air defense.

However, some of the blows were so strong that the Ukrainians failed to hide them. A powerful strike hit the city of Pavlograd in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Local authorities confirmed that a Russian missile struck an industrial facility.

…

In Pavlograd, there are also two strategically important railway junctions from where military echelons with equipment and ammunition are transferred to the front lines.

In the course of the video linked below, Douglas Macgregor expands on the damage from these strikes. According to Macgregor, Pavlograd was the site of a massive munitions and armored vehicle assembly area that was completely destroyed. In addition, Macgregor states that the Russians struck 9 Ukrainian brigade HQs, killing 1,000 personnel—a serious blow for an army short of experienced leadership.

A change in targeting strategy on the Russian side

As for continued European support, I came across a rather surprising video from Poland. I can’t embed the tweet, but if you follow the link you’ll see that the peace march in Poland is pretty fair sized. The slogans that were chanted feature several clearly anti-Ukrainian slogans—an increasingly hot button issue for Poles:

@Navsteva

A peace march was held in Poland today. Some of the slogans chanted:

- This is not our war!

- No military propaganda!

- Duda and Kachinsky to the Ukrainian front!

- No war with Russia!

- This is Poland not Brussels! Bandera is not supported here!

- Today our tanks, tomorrow our children!

- Let's not give up our children!

- Government to the front!

- The Pole is the master in Poland!

- Stop the Banderization of Poland!

- Let's not be cannon fodder!

- Yankees go home!

- Diplomacy instead of a fight!

- Poland is here, not Ukropol!

- Volyn! Volyn! Remember!

- Church for Peace!

- Hands off our children!

- America is an evil empire!

- May peace be with us Poles!

If this is starting to happen in Poland, which has been overwhelmingly the strongest significant supporter of the war on Russia—including in popular opinion—one has to suspect that Europeans more generally are losing any stomach for more war.
