The last few weeks have seen prominent Dems—to include Barry Obama and well known pollsters—warning that the Dem party’s wokeness is dangerously out of touch with Americans. Something like 80% of Americans—a percentage that necessarily includes an enormous number of Dem voters—are seriously disturbed with the wokism they see in the Dem party. So, with all polls for the past month or so showing a growing Red Wave that is reaching gigantic proportions, what do Zhou’s handlers do? They send him out with this message to the country:
Stephen Miller picked up on this immediately:
And that’s exactly what they’re doing.
Their backup plan? Claim that foreigners are interfering. Really. As if Americans haven’t seen that movie already and might not want a rerun:
So—Russians, Chinese, or both? If it’s the Russians, Americans have seen that movie before. If it’s the Chinese, I wonder how Asian-Americans—who, not unlike Hispanics, are increasingly reconsidering their committment to the Dem party—will feel about being targeted, implicitly?
Here’s what this reminded me of. I’ve been listening to a long video today at Crypto Rich’s platform, featuring the Dynamic Duo of Tom Luongo and Alex Mercouris. As always, a stimulating discussion that focuses on the utterly broken state of British politics. The usually measured Alex Mercouris surprised me today with his openly stated belief that Britain is probably headed for something like a revolution. He expressed this view by using the metaphor of the fall of the Chinese Han Empire, after 400 years of stable legitimacy. But a court faction around the emperor began abusing their authority, resulting in widespread civil unrest. Eventually the army was called in to restore order, but the army went over to the side of the people and marched on Beijing and liquidated the miscreants. Mercouris, remarkable, stated that something analogous to that is probably in the cards for Britain: “I think that’s where we’re headed.” “These people win every tactical battle, but they’re losing the war.”
Luongo jumped on board with that, from his libertarian perspective, but he said some things that resonate with cultural conservatives as well:
They're fighting rearguard actions.
They're fighting the last war with two more wars ahead of them that they lack the ability to fight. You can't break Russia, you haven't broken Federalism in the US.
GOP control of the House is coming, and there's a limit to what they can push through in the short time before the elections.
The UK is gonna experience, sooner or later, a bottom up political revolution. Someone will say, we're done--bring in the guillotines, bring in the ropes, let's have a party!
When you unleash chaos, be careful what you wish for, because you can't control chaos--not the secondary and tertiary effects. Chaos has been unleashed.
You may not believe in God, but the people we're dealing with ABSOLUTELY don't. Your morality was shaped by people who did believe in God, whether or not you do. Your morality limits your ability to conceive of what these people might do. If you have a little voice in your head saying, 'But they can't possibly do that!' you better change that 'they' to an 'I'. YOU wouldn't do that, but THEY WILL. These people are psychopaths. They don't submit to any higher authority or morality.
Luongo also posits, as an illustration of the type of people we're dealing with, that Covid was knowingly used to put pension systems in a better position.
Mercouris follows up on these observations by noting that when a nations politics move from a relatively open system to one where everything is decided by backstairs intrigues and deals, the type of people who will succeed in that system will be the “uninhibited” psychopaths. Most of us aren’t gifted intriguers, but closed systems attract such people. But closed systems are ultimately unsustainable.
This is clearly the road the Dems are headed down. It won’t be pleasant for the rest of us, unless we can short circuit it. Our Federal system in America provides advantages in that regard, but it depends on people voting. But here’s an example of what we’re fighting against:
… a group of former intelligence and national security officials issued a jointly signed letter warning that pending legislative attempts to restrict or break up the power of Big Tech monopolies — Facebook, Google, and Amazon — would jeopardize national security.
… Former intelligence and national security officials argue that centralized censorship is not only crucial to protecting national security but also in advancing U.S. foreign policy, on one hand, and the Obama-weaponized DOJ, FBI, and IRS targeting political enemies metastasizing under the presidency of Joe Biden, on the other hand.
What could possibly go wrong? We’re about to find out.
The New York Post on Sunday published a piece by investigative journalist Miranda Devine about a little-noticed federal lawsuit, Missouri v. Biden, that “is uncovering astonishing evidence of an entrenched censorship scheme cooked up between the federal government and Big Tech that would make Communist China proud.”
The appeal, as always, to “national security”—while street crime metastisizes. Look at the enemies abroad, while we control every aspect of your life. This may seem a long march from Zhou defending child mutilation, but this censorship regime has been deployed to empower every scare tactic the Progs have deployed, every moral outrage they’ve empowered. Our hope is in their overreach.
Thanks Mark for the link to the Luongo/Mercouris chat. I listened to the whole thing. It was especially useful to hear Mercouris summarize the plot to remove Truss, and also how he believes Russians perceive their conflict with the West.
A couple of pertinent points:
I'm a Luongo patron and was pleasantly surprised during one of his recent patron only videos to find that he mentioned going to church on Sundays. Since he wears his libertarianism on his sleeve I was unsure of views on theism.
I recently went down the Marina Abramovich "Satansim" rabbit hole, pizzagate etc. ,taking into account various facets of Malthusianism and euegenicsm (touched upon in this article) as espoused by the WEF and Bill Gates et al, and noting Putin's recent characterisation of the Western elite as Satanists.
Satanism, in this sense, is not worship of the occult, or anything really, but instead is worship of militant Atheism as an affirmed truth, and targets anything that remotely resembles religion. Hence the rituals which glorify Satan as the antichrist - not because of any power of the occult, but simply to make a mockery of the existing religious order.
It's a modern day Tower of Babel. There is nothing new under the sun.
