I’ll state this right up front—I have a problem with the entire concept of “gagging” persons who are being prosecuted. Especially because it seems now to be standard procedure for federal prosecutors in any case that generates broad publicity to leak grand jury information. When was the last time you heard of the government side of a prosecution being disciplined for such behavior? Let me rephrase that: Who investigates leaks?
Anyway, as readers may have heard, Jack Smith is asking a clearly biased judge to “gag” Trump, who is running for president—in part on a platform alleging widespread corruption in DoJ and weaponization of the federal government in general against public figures who dissent from the Ruling Class line.

Jack Smith waited for late Friday to file a sweeping motion seeking to gag Trump in referencing witnesses and attorneys in the case. While calling it "narrowly tailored," it would effectively bar Trump from discussing the case in the midst of a presidential campaign...
...The order would prohibit Trump from making statements "regarding the identity, testimony, or credibility of prospective witnesses" and "statements about any party, witness, attorney, court personnel, or potential jurors that are disparaging and inflammatory, or intimidating."
...So after fighting to try Trump in the middle of the presidential election, Smith is seeking to curtail him from discussing one of the most important issues in the campaign. No one would argue with a bar on disparaging witnesses. However, some of the witnesses and parties are political figures...

...While D.C. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has said that she will not make accommodations for the fact that Trump is a candidate for President, this could force the issue and result in an appeal...
...Trump is running on the weaponization of the Justice Department and the criminal justice system. Many Americans agree with his criticism. Smith could curtail much of that debate by pushing this trial before the election.
An appeal, if the gag order is instituted—as I assume it will be—could prove interesting. The whole issue of gag orders is quite controversial and I don’t believe it has been addressed by the SCOTUS on principle.
I have a feeling that Trump will ignore any gag order. He knows they are going full out to get him, so he might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. At this point anyway, it's actually good that things are getting worse because it pushes us faster towards the breakdown and catharsis our society needs.
CowboyLogic today had Enrique T., who said DOJ wanted him to sign doc that thru 2 other unknown to him that was the communication from Trump.
