Miranda Devine On The Real Covid Conspiracy
Let me just say up front that my working assumption--until disproven--is that Tony Fauci was acting at the direction of powerful influencers. To me, that means that those directing Fauci's policies were in or had pretty direct connections to the political realm.
With that proviso, Miranda Devine presents some succinct facts about the real Covid conspiracy in Scientists were pushing real COVID-19 conspiracy . I realize that for many the idea that scientists engaged in deliberate, um, deception will not come as a total surprise. Nevertheless, it's important to understand and internalize this fact, because in our world science has a privileged position. That cannot be allowed to continue--not without the possibility of serious oversight and pointed challenges to supposed orthodoxies.
Simply put, scientists can be bought off, just like other "experts." Experts they may be, but all experts must be presumed to also have interests of their own and should be challenged on that understanding. If they pass the test, well and good. But passing that test requires transparency to the public, which has been systematically suppressed under the sorry Covid regime. This approach works under our accepted and time tested legal principles and, significantly, it also is the basis for sound scientific research. Duh! Which means that some--possibly many--"scientists" are in fact engaged in something somewhat other than actual science. Just as some prosecutors, investigators, judges, and defense attorneys engage in something other than the disinterested pursuit of justice. We need to understand this.
Here is what to me is the core of Devine's article, Devine comes to this after leading us through Peter Daszak's money driven manipulation of other "scientists" to publicly denounce "conspiracy theories", i.e., the public presentation of inconvenient facts. In this excerpt I've inserted words in brackets in a few spots to make what Devine is saying absolutely clear:
One of the lab-leak deniers who signed the [Peter Daszak anti-lab origin] letter has now at least recanted . Dr. Peter Palese, a virologist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, last week reportedly called for a “thorough investigation about the origin of the Covid-19 virus.”
That is to his credit. But the damage caused by the letter he signed can’t be overestimated.
It effectively silenced scientists who had kept an open mind. It dismissed as kooks those virologists who took one look at the new virus and saw telltale signs that it may have been tinkered with in the lab.
In fact, the lab-leak theory always was strongly backed by the science, as any honest virologist would tell you. One of the few willing to speak on the public record, professor Nikolai Petrovsky from Flinders University in South Australia, did tell me just that last August.
He was surprised, as were other scientists, when it appeared that the very first strains of COVID-19 isolated in December 2019 showed “the virus was already perfectly adapted to infect and transmit between human hosts. How this pre-adaptation to humans came about still needs to be satisfactorily explained.”
The virus suddenly appeared in humans [in a form that was] already evolved to be extremely contagious [among humans], something scientists say has only been observed in a laboratory.
That doesn’t mean the virus definitely leaked from the Wuhan lab. But it remains the most plausible theory, as it did from day one. The fact that no intermediate animal host has been found in the past 17 months to explain how the virus might have leaped from bats to humans is another strike against the so-called “zoonotic” or natural theory pushed by the Lancet and America’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci .
Instead of telling the truth, the world’s scientific establishment deliberately created a false narrative that was swallowed uncritically by most of the media and presented to the public as holy writ.
Scientists used the full weight of their authority to tell a deliberate lie, whether to protect the research method that may have engineered the virus or to contradict a president they didn’t trust.
“Virologists as a group are afraid that public attention being drawn to the possibility of a lab escape may result in a political backlash and action to shut down even irrelevant virus research,” Petrovsky said.
“... Hence a collective desire to shut down this scientific debate early, before it gets public.”
In other words, scientists wanted to keep doing their dangerous Frankenstein research even if it caused a deadly global pandemic, and they didn’t want the public to have a say.
They lied to us so that we wouldn’t scream blue murder and make them stop playing God in the laboratory. We will never trust them again .
I believe we're at the point that we can say that what Devine is saying is simple fact. And we now can identify many--not yet all, but many--of the people behind it.
That's from a strictly scientific standpoint. The other side of this is that there was a political aspect to this Covid conspiracy, and most of these scientists were fully aware of that political aspect. They knew they were being used not just to "defend science" but to "get Trump." That's what Peter D'Abrosca puts so baldly, as quoted in Rant: America A Serious Country? You're Joking Me!
This narrative was carefully crafted by the left-wing press to humanize a man who was, at the time, committing crimes against humanity for the purpose of helping Democrats win an election.
Which is to say that, having got the scientific establishment on board with a false narrative--that's the significance of the Daszak letter--political operatives fed that false narrative to a complicit left wing media. Consequences be damned. That's a crime against humanity. Fauci was the "follow the science" ringmaster. He needs to pay a price. But he was far from alone. Indeed, his role would likely not have played out as it did but for the political aspect.
