Before we head out for the first of two today, I wanted to remind everyone—exactly one month ago I speculated on the possibility of Zhou being swapped out of the White House. Not just out of the candidacy.
Of course, that was and remains speculation. This is a reminder that all sorts of shenanigans may yet occur between now and November—including installing Kama Sutra in the Oval Office.
Interestingly, yesterday evening TGP ran a post about Kash Patel speculating along the same lines, so the idea is out there:

Patel’s reasoning is similar to mine—this would be part of the deal that Pelosi forced on Zhou, to initially swap Zhou out of the candidacy (already happened, obviously) and then out of the Oval Office, in return for legal protection.

I think the horse trade will be: “I’m going to, Joe Biden, leave or retire. You, Kamala, are going to take the reins. And once the election is over, you’re going to pardon my son, my entire family, and myself.” Because remember, presidential pardons aren’t just retroactive; they’re prospective. So, if you pardon someone, you pardon them for the entirety of the conduct that you include in the pardon paperwork.
I’ve always thought that was going to be part of some deal or horse trade. Because if you can count on Joe Biden to do one thing, it’s to save his family from all this illicit conduct that they have been caught in, and he can do it with a stroke of a pen.”

Beiden can pardon himself and his family just as easily and with more certainty. I don't think Beiden wants to join Nixon as the only President to ever resign the office so the Democrats would have to 25th him to get him out before January. I do think the Democrats might want to do an October surprise to try to give Kamalamadingbat a boost in the election but I am not sure it would actually work out to be to her benefit- it would simply make the Democrats look even more hazardous to vote for.
Now that’d be a new one! Regime change, a Dem specialty, before the election! So many pardons and so little time…
