In the last two days I’ve done two posts on the DHS bulletin on the “heightened threat environment” we’re experiencing. Oh, you weren’t aware of the heightened threat of domestic terrorism? Well, nevermind. The thought occurred to me that there may have been a very specific reason for this bulletin. I’m speculating, but …
The key to my speculation is found in this passage from the bulletin:
Key factors contributing to the current heightened threat environment include:
The proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions:
For example, there is widespread online proliferation of false or misleading narratives regarding unsubstantiated widespread election fraud and COVID-19. Grievances associated with these themes inspired violent extremist attacks during 2021.
Malign foreign powers have and continue to amplify these false or misleading narratives in efforts to damage the United States.
The key here, I believe, is the last sentence, which alleges as a fact that “malign foreign powers” are “amplifying" the false and misleading narratives of US citizens to “damage the United States.”
Here’s my question: Does this sentence explain the heightened state of hysteria that the Zhou regime is attempting to inculcate in its subjects—the constant claims that if Russia didn’t invade Ukraine yesterday or today it will certainly invade Ukraine tomorrow or the next day?
Few serious people believe anything of the sort will occur. What might occur is widespread unrest—even a Freedom Convoy—occasioned by the proliferation of accurate information about Covid, the ineffectiveness of the Covid Regime restrictions, and especially the injection mandates. Such accurate information is precisely what the Regime and its MSM proxies call “false or misleading narratives”.
So, I ask: If widespread unrest—demonstrations, etc.—occur as a result of accurate information, will the Regime claim—citing this bulletin—that this accurate information is actually “false or misleading narratives” amplified by a malign foreign power—RUSSIA. Could that bare allegation be used as justification for ruthless suppression of demonstrations, utilizing the National Guard? After all, our Imperial City on the Potomac was under military occupation for nearly half a year on the most threadbare of pretexts. It could happen again.
As support for this speculation, I note the increased use by the Regime of the accusation that it’s critics—Josh Hawley, for example—are Russian puppets. This tactic has been used in the context of the Ukraine thing, but does this DHS bulletin signal that the same tactic could be used to suppress dissent more widely? Could citizens be arrested on charges of harming National Security and acting as agents of a malign foreign power—without registering under FARA.
It’s a theory. Never say never—especially these days. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?
Would the country buy into that narrative? I’m very skeptical.
"Acting as agents of a malign foreign power—without registering under FARA." Hmm... that sounds familiar. One would think that eventually (under our supposed system of justice) the accusers would have to prove such. Although, in the mean time under "color of law" I suppose they could throw you in with the 1/6 protestors for a year or two on the pretext you are potentially a foreign agent. After all, who and what is there to restrain them? Meantime, I am AMAZED at how busy those Russians have been undermining our democracy! No wonder they can't find the time to invade the Ukraine!
This is in direct response to what’s happening to our neighbors up north. Fear of being unable to manage similar circumstances in the US.
