It’s difficult to say for sure. This interesting write-up at Zerohedge, overall, suggests that the American Empire is desperately trying to back away from war:
US Urges Tehran Not To Target American Bases If It Retaliates Against Israel
On the one hand, this headline sounds rather like the US distancing itself from Israel and telling Iran that it can go ahead and retaliate—as long as Iran doesn’t attack US interests. But nothing in this current world order is quite that simple:
Iran says it conveyed a rare direct message to the Untied States in the form of a written statement, at a moment the Middle East region is on edge, bracing for possible retaliation from Iran against Israel for the Monday attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus. Iran now says it received an immediate response from the Biden administration, which warned Tehran not to attack US facilities as part of any potential revenge operation.
Iranian presidential aide Mohammad Jamshidi said the following on Friday: "In a written message, the Islamic Republic of Iran warns US leadership not to get dragged in Netanyahu's trap for US: Stay away so you won't get hurt.
So it looks like each side—Iran and the US—is warning the other. Overall, it appears that there are influential people in the Deep State who realize what a disaster the war that Netanyahu is attempting to drag the US into would be. The FACT that that is what Netanyahu is attempting has to be the biggest Open Secret going. Without a doubt top Dems are coming to the panicky realization that, bad as the current Israeli genocide against Palestinians is for their electoral prospects, matters could easily get much, much worse. A regional war in the Middle East, with the American Empire being a lead participant, is an obvious way for Dem prospects to get much, much worse, and the Israeli attack on Iran via an embassy has brought that much, much worse prospect right to the brink.
It doesn’t take much reflection to understand what tossing a lit match into this powder keg region could lead to. Potential areas of significant warfare? Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Eastern Mediterranean—and you might want to throw in the Black and Caspian Seas. Wait, I left out the entire Indian Ocean. Yemen and the Horn of Africa and across the Sahel and up through Algeria. Russia is already present throughout the region in considerable force and will not twiddle its thumbs while the US attacks throughout the region. China’s navy has engaged in exercises with Russia and Iran. Check this out:
Iran began arming Christian Armenia. Amid rising tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic has for the first time started arming Armenia. Today, an Iranian military-affiliated Boeing 747 (IR4705) took off from Tehran towards Armenia, turning off its GPS as it entered Armenian airspace. Various outlets claim the cargo consisted of drones and other weapons systems. Iran has repeatedly clarified its position that it will not allow any change in the regional borders, especially not the creation of the so-called Zangezur corridor in Armenia's Syunik region. Azerbaijan is constantly armed by Israel, in exchange for oil and free movement of the Mossad on the territory of Azerbaijan. Oil flows through Turkey, and Erdoğan did not want to stop it despite public calls. @Middle_East_Spectator
War between Iran and Turkey? No, it wouldn’t stop at that—Russia would certainly become involved on the side of Iran and Armenia. The dynamic at play in all this is that no nation has the ability to enforce its will through ground warfare combined with more or less traditional air warfare. That means that sooner rather than later more devastating missile warfare will be resorted to—not cruise missiles like the Tomahawk but ballistic missiles and Russia’s hypersonic weapons. Use ‘em or lose ‘em.
Perhaps these very cold, very hard, truths are part of what led to this development:
Dimitri Lascaris @dimitrilascaris
Israel’s genocidal regime is in serious trouble.
An immediate halt to arms transfers to Israel would definitely bring the insane Zionist scheming to a screeching halt. It’s one thing for Bernie Sanders to call for that, but for someone of Pelosi’s stature within the Uniparty to do so is quite another.
This, too, probably has entered the Pelosi’s calculations, because it’s not just Israel being hurt, and it’s not just Israel finding itself isolated in the world:
Yemen says 'surprises' on hand as US envoy admits 'no military solution'
For nearly three months, the US navy has been fighting a losing battle against Yemen to protect Israeli commercial interests
Right. Nuland isn’t the only one who can play the “surprise” game, and US assets in the region are extremely vulnerable if Yemen gets a weapons upgrade package from its friends—people like Iran and Russia.
“From the coast of the Red Sea or from outside it, we can achieve the goals we want in defense of our country and support of Palestine … We still have many military surprises, and there are military operations that we are keeping secret as part of a specific media strategy,” the Yemeni official added.
His comments coincided with a statement from US Special Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking, in which he said “there is no military solution” for Yemen.
"We favor a diplomatic solution; we know that there is no military solution," the US official said on Wednesday.
No military solution. I quoted not long ago a BBC interview with US commanders in the region who, in somewhat but not very guarded terms, were saying pretty much the same thing. The fact that UK and Danish ships are malfunctioning doesn’t help.
Balanced against those considerations …
UPDATE: President Biden has received >$11 MILLION from the pro-Israel lobby. This total includes available data from his Senate career (data available back to 1990) and 3 of his presidential campaigns (1988 not available). The previous figure was only his Senate total.
Hmmmm. True not true?

BREAKING: The US will not interfere if Iran attacks Israel
Through a series of messages exchanged via third parties, the United States and Iran have come to an understanding.
Iran assured the Americans it will not target U.S. facilities, and in turn the U.S. says it will not get involved if Iran retaliates against Israel.
Israel carried out the attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, without consulting the United States.
I get a sense that Iran is taking a cue from Russia relative to how to respond, how to communicate to the global world order, as well as steps to protect it's longer term interests. Iran seems fairly measured throughout all of this and as far back as the assassination of Soleimani. Russia's got to be providing some guidance to Iran I believe. Intent is to prop up Iran more as a stronger regional power.
