Don Surber is in total Midterm mode lately with commentary that’s always worth reading. I haven’t seen him address possibilities of fraud, and in fairness that’s a difficult issue to address. I say that because, while the GOPe may have been heavily complicit in the 2020 DC Establishment removal of President Trump, it doesn’t appear that that effort has carried over to the Midterms—despite some of McConnell’s actions.
Interestingly, I’m still listening to Luongo and Mercouris as I write this. Luongo, as cynical an observer of US politics as there is, just explained to his two Brit interlocutors that, in contrast to 2020 when the Dems were openly saying how they had the election sewn up, even telling us how it was done (well, kinda), this time around there’s none of that confidence, no indication that the fix is in.
With that caveat—and I suspect Surber would likely share Luongo’s take—Don has a lot of interesting things to say. Importantly, he reads the WaPo and LATimes so we don’t have to. That gives him insights into the Dem mentality. I’ll excerpt the general thrust of the argument, but follow the links for the details that Don uses to back it all up:
With the election 15 days away, we have reached the point where Democrats panic. ...
... They banked on abortion saving them.
It won't.
They spent vast amounts of their money on abortion. Anecdotally, people tell me that’s all they hear about on the MSM ads.
Democrats know it is bad.
…
… Trump-supporting candidates look to turn the House and the Senate red.
And they are not just any old Republicans.
A panicked LA Times reported, "The House won’t merely be held by Republicans. It will be led by Republicans loyal to former President Trump, many of whom refuse to accept Biden’s legitimacy as president.
"Most members of the new majority will have been elected with Trump’s endorsement. There will be almost no Trump critics in the House GOP — none who dare voice their qualms, at least. The caucus has been purged.
"Of the 10 House Republicans who voted in favor of impeaching Trump after his supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, eight retired or lost primary elections. Only two are still on the ballot.
"Of the likely members of the next majority, well more than half have questioned or denied the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election. January’s incoming members will, not incidentally, be in the House when it considers the results of the presidential election of 2024."
…
The DC establishment messed with the wrong movement. Trumpism is here to stay until we Make America Great Again. Democrats are not the only ones panicking as Romney, Cheney and Murkowski are actively working against Republican nominees this fall. The grifters' game is about to end.
There’s more good news. And it’s interesting to see how Don’s tone re Ukraine has shifted dramatically—or so it seems to me. He makes one pro forma reference to Putin “starting the war,” but that’s it. He even calls America the “arsenal of corruption”, transforming FDR’s old saw. There’s a growing bipartisan consensus against more war. It’s not the majority yet, but it’s enough to make a difference already.
When the cabal from hell installed Biden in the Oval Office, I said there would be war because well, a crooked politician always takes care of his donors and himself. ...
...
However, as the midterms near, Democrats are panicking. They are pushing back. And Republicans have indicated they will not sign more blank checks for Ukraine when they assume control of the House in January. The Washington Post reported, "Liberals urge Biden to rethink Ukraine strategy. Democrat lawmakers’ letter calls for direct U.S. talks with Russia." … The letter, sent to the White House on Monday and obtained by The Washington Post, could create more pressure on Biden as he tries to sustain domestic support for the war effort, ...
The warmongering LA Times reported, "Republicans who question U.S. aid to Ukraine may soon have the power to end it."
...
The Ukraine war continues because it is a cash cow for Biden and his sponsors, even though it is a money pit for Americans.
...
FDR called America the arsenal of democracy. ...
Today, we stand as the arsenal of corruption.
Let history will show that Congress for four years refused to give an American president $25 billion to build a wall.
It just gave twice as much money to a Ukrainian president.
Biden got his war, Now he will collect his kickbacks. It is blood money. Biden doesn't care. Many others do not as well.
...
If Uncle Sam cut off aid to Ukraine today, the war would end tomorrow. There would be no more homes or factories destroyed and no more soldiers dying.
That day may come soon thanks to the Squad and Republican voters.
Don describes support for Ukraine as “the perfect virtue signal.” That leaves unanswered the question: How did Progs get to that position? Not surprisingly that brings us back to domestic politics and the reverse culture war. In the US the term “culture war” usually denotes conservatives who supposedly wish to install a “theocracy”, as a certain commenter likes to say. The reality is almost exactly the opposite. The real culture war is the war of secular liberalism against traditional normative lifestyles, as embraced even by the overwhelmining majority of liberals and as envisioned by our Founding Fathers. The real culture warriors seek the exaltation of queerness and deviancy, as is ever more openly apparent.
These are views that Putin has openly spoken (and acted) against and rejects for Russia. Russians, by and large, embrace Putin’s views. This is why Putin is the perfect villain in the eyes of the globalist, satanic cabal of Progs. This is why the war on Russia is the perfect Prog jihad and support for Ukraine is the perfect virtue signal. It doesn’t take much observation of the cultural and political scene in the US to figure this out. And just as the cultural scene in America is becoming more aware of these dynamics, so too is disillusion with war on Russia growing. It’s not a coincidence, even if it doesn’t always track exactly step by step in popular consciousness.
It's hard to believe, as I celebrate my 80th birthday, that I would be more likely to support the president of Russia than the phony president of the USA. What a sad state of affairs I'm passing on to my grand children.
