Sweden Leads, And More

Undoubtedly the top Covid story, starting the day, is the news that Sweden has halted use of the Moderna injection for those under 30. I’ll link here to Karl Denninger’s account, which quotes the Reuters story. The important point to keep in mind is that Sweden, while it bucked the groupthink Covid Regime approach, has not been and is not now anti-vax. The decision was made based on—hold on—the science. Meaning: real world data. Lack of data, deliberately concealed by “redefinition” and other means by governments, is a continuing problem. That problem is exacerbated by complicit MSM reporting. How many times have you seen stories about people dying or being seriously injured by “rare” blood clotting disorders? I’ve seen several such stories already today. How often do these stories address a simple issue: What’s the relative rarity of such clotting disorders among the unvaxxed—say, for all the many years pre-Covid—as compared to post-vax? In point of fact, the reason the Swedes are taking this action is because studies are showing conclusively that the risk for death by vaccine is many times higher in the under 30 demographic than is the risk from Covid.

Ah, the rumor is real.

STOCKHOLM, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Sweden will pause the use of Moderna's (MRNA.O) COVID-19 vaccine for people born 1991 and later after reports of possible rare side effects, such as myocarditis, the Swedish health agency said on Wednesday.

The health agency said data pointed to an increase of myocarditis and pericarditis among youths and young adults that had been vaccinated.

That's anyone under 30 years old.

Ok folks, how many people did we screw here in the US with mandates, with "strong recommendations" and similar?

How many businesses, along with all of their directors and officers need to be completely destroyed as a consequence of mandates?

Oh, and what percentage of the MILITARY active duty are under 30?  Threatened with a dishonorable discharge for refusal to put your cardiac health at risk of permanent harm eh?

Note that Sweden previously approved the Moderna shot for anyone over 12.  That turns out to be wrong.

They claim the risk of being affected is "very small."  Would you quantify "very small" please?  No?  Gee, why not?

UPDATE: Denmark has joined with Sweden in restricting Moderna’ injection.

A related story from the UK shows the creative use of available statistics to get past government embargoes on data (although the UK has been, compared to the US, relatively good about making Covid data public). I’m not going to speculate on the chances of success for this lawsuit—the fact that the plaintiffs were unable to get an injunction suggests the chances aren’t high—but the Appeals judge did make several rulings that favor the plaintiffs. The important thing is that evidence will be presented and weighed and a record created. It’s a step forward:

A Judge has ordered the UK Goverment to submit evidence that justifies Covid-19 vaccination of children, giving them a deadline of Monday 11th October.

The order from The Hon. Mr Justice Jay is most welcome after we exclusively revealed Thursday 30th September that since teens over the age of 15 had been given the Covid-19 vaccine deaths among the age group had increased by 47% compared to the same period in 2020. (See here)

We also then delved back into the Office for National Statistics data due to a suspicion we would find the majority of those deaths had been among teenage boys due to the risk of myocardtis, inflammation of the heart muscle, associated with the Pfizer vaccine and mainly occurring in younger males, as well as a correlation with a rise in emergency calls requesting an ambulance due to cardiac arrest, found in Public Health England data.

Unfortunately our fears were confirmed, as we exclusively revealed on Monday 4th October that deaths among teenage boys have increased by 63% in the UK since they started getting the Covid-19 vaccine. (See here)

See what KD and I are on about? What’s “rare” about a 63% increase in a rare condition? The condition may still be rare, statistically, but a sudden 63% increase should be alarming to all but the brain dead or malicious. Swedish health officials apparently are neither.

The WSJ had an interesting article yesterday evening on Covid origins—an issue concerning which the government continues to play hide-the-ball, claiming an inability to recognize what is almost transparently obvious. Where did Covid-19 come from? The answer can be found in the SARS-CoV-2 virus itself. To get to the truth, we need only unleash the power of science.

What I like about this article is that it neatly incorporates information that has been floating around for the last few weeks—information that clearly implicates the US government in very risky lab projects in Wuhan. For those who can’t access the article, I found these key paragraphs were also reproduced at Powerline. The authors conclude with a clever sentence: “The whistleblower’s name is SARS-CoV-2.” The point they’re making, which is summarized in the quoted paragraph’s below, is that the behavior and conformation of the virus itself testifies to its lab origins:

A coronavirus adapts for its host animal. It takes time to perfect itself for infecting humans. But a pathogen engineered via accelerated evolution in a laboratory using humanized mice would need no additional time after escape to optimize for human infection. In their Nature Medicine paper, Mr. Andersen and colleagues pointed to what they considered the poor design of SARS-CoV-2 as evidence of zoonotic origin. But a team of American scientists mutated the stem of the coronavirus genome in nearly 4,000 different ways and tested each variation. In the process they actually stumbled on the Delta variant. In the end, they determined that the original SARS-CoV-2 pathogen was 99.5% optimized for human infection—strong confirmation of the lab-leak hypothesis.

SARS-CoV-2 contains a key mutation: the “furin cleavage site,” or FCS. This mutation is sufficiently complex that it couldn’t have been the result of spontaneous changes triggered, for example, by a mutagen or radiation. It could, however, have been inserted by nature or by humans. In nature the process is called recombination—a virus exchanges chunks of itself with another closely related virus when both infect the same cell. The National Institutes of Health database shows no FCS in more than 1,200 viruses that can exchange with SARS-CoV-2.

As the Intercept recently reported, a 2018 grant proposal—written by the EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S.-based nonprofit, and submitted to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or Darpa—contained a description of proposed experiments that would involve splicing the FCS sequences into bat viruses so a research team could look for changes in infectivity. Darpa opted not to fund the grant, but the absence of the FCS in related coronaviruses, together with the apparent desire and capability of scientists to make such an insertion, strongly argues in favor of the laboratory origin thesis.

Recall that Nobel winning virologist David Baltimore, upon becoming aware that Covid contained a furin cleavage site, stated that that was a “smoking gun” of Covid’s lab origins.

I’m going to skip over the increasing number of very disturbing articles about businesses that are turning unvaxxed employees out on the streets. This is just sick behavior—it’s not legally required and it’s not based in science. It’s either politics or a generalized hysteria. However, yesterday The Federalist carried an article on this subject that relies heavily on interviews with affected workers. I highly recommend it:

Finally, and also at The Federalist, a report from the University of Chicago. The school, formerly a bastion of free inquiry, is requiring students to sign an “attestation” that claims to present matters of fact, but which are highly dubious. In other words, if students disagree with these statements and refuse to sign on to their agreement they will be excluded from class. Read that again—I’m not kidding.

In order to attend the in-person classes for which we pay tuition, all students must submit to the University of Chicago's point of view and sign their names to it.

Check out some of the statements the university demands that all students sign:

Failure to sign my university’s attestation by last Monday meant your student ID was deactivated and you were banned from all university facilities, barring you from attending class.

In order to attend class, students are forced to “agree” in writing to the assertion that “COVID-19 poses a serious public health risk.” Students like me must also “agree” to the claim that “my failure to follow the [COVID-19] requirements,” like wearing a cloth over my mouth, “may endanger myself and/or others.”

Similarly, students who receive a religious exemption from UChicago’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate are forced to sign their names below a statement reading, “I acknowledge that I may be placing myself and others at risk of serious illness should I contract a disease that could have been prevented through proper vaccination.”

COVID-19 has a 99.5 percent survival rate or better for those younger than 65. To my healthy peers and me at the University of Chicago, COVID-19 poses less of a threat than pneumonia or the seasonal flu. But in order to attend class, we must sign our names to COVID-19 hysteria, by attesting we believe COVID “poses a serious public health risk.”

Land of the free? Not if the Left has anything to say about it. And it’s the Left that runs most public institutions.
