Yesterday I wrote that Netanyahu’s advertised meetings with Zhou and Kama Sutra had been canceled. Commenter History Lass questioned that statement immediately. I thought that I had read what I claimed, but such was not the case. The meetings did come off. The statements that followed the meetings appear to have been non-committal, from a Zionist extremist perspective. None of the fulsome green-lighting rhetoric that Zionist extremists were clearly hoping for—nothing like ‘we will support Israel in any actions Israel deems called for in its national security interests.’ No. Kama Sutra basically just hit on two familiar themes, one of which—it’s time to stop the war on Gaza—would have been wormwood to Netanyahu and his ilk:
"I told Netyanahu that I will always ensure that Israel is able to defend itself, including from Iran and Iran backed militias such as Hamas and Hezbollah."
"There has been hopeful movement in the talks to secure an agreement on this deal, and as I just told PM Netanyahu, it is time to get this deal done."
Netanyahu has repeatedly made it crystal clear that the war on Palestinians will never end until they are driven from their land, that they will always be treated as “human animals”, that there are no civilians in Israel’s war on Palestinians. The purpose of the drumbeat of “the US has greenlit more war, this time on Lebanon” that was coming from Zionist extremists was clearly meant to get the US involved in a regional war before the pressure for a halt in Gaza got too intense. From that standpoint the meetings would have been entirely unsatisfactory for Zionist extremists—it was boilerplate language intended to satisfy both pro-Israel and anti-war Dem constituencies during this election year.
Trump felt called upon to make a statement—in the context of his assassinatin—about wiping Iran “off the face of the earth” if he should be definitively assassinated by Iran.

BREAKING:
Donald Trump continues to push for war with Iran in the name of Israel
Trump posts on Truth Social calling for America to wipe Iran “off the face of the Earth” if he’s assassinated.
He attaches a video of Israeli PM Netanyahu accusing Iran of trying to do so.

Anyone who’s familiar with Trumpian modes of communication knows that Trump is not, here, “pushing for war with Iran” based on Netanyahu’s gaslighting.
As an indication of Trump’s better understanding of the situation, I highly recommend following the link to this post—which dates from Trump’s days in the White House. Since I can’t embed twitter videos, I’ve included a transcript:

[Video of Trump and Netanyahu after meeting statement]
Trump: It's gonna have to do with both sides, but a lot will have to do with Israel and whether or not Israel wants to make the deal. [Directly addressing Netanyahu] As far as settlements, I'd like to see you hold back on settlements for a little bit, we'll work something out, but I would like to see a deal be made. It might be a bigger and better deal than people in this room even understand. That's a possibility. So let's see what we do.
Netanyahu: [Fumbles for a word a bit] Right.
Trump: Doesn't sound too optimistic, but that's ...
[Trump's voice over photos of Trump and Netanyahu and Trump and Abbas, speaking to reporters]
I was disappointed in Bibi--just on a personal basis. I thought he [Abbas] wanted to make a deal more than Netanyahu, and I will be honest. I had a great meeting with him, Abbas, right? I had a great meeting with him and we spent a lot of time together, talked about many things. And it was almost like a father--I mean, he was so nice! Couldn't have been nicer! And, after meeting with Bibi for [pauses] three minutes, I looked at him and said, 'You don't wanna make a deal, do you?' And he said, 'Well, uh, uh, uh.' And the fact is I don't think Bibi ever wanted to make a deal.
Again, anyone familiar with Trumpian modes of communication will understand what’s going on here. Trump has a very low opinion of Netanyahu and that low opinion is not simply the result of Netanyahu dropping Trump for Zhou in 2020. I doubt Trump’s view has changed during the intervening years. He knows Netanyahu has no interest in peace or fair dealings.
Overall, it looks like Netanyahu’s big push for war was not well received in the Imperial City, nor in Mar a Lago. The interesting speculation remains—was this Netanyahu visit intended to be the last step in a series of events that would lead to a US war on Iran—a series of events that included the Trump assassination that was to be blamed on Iran? How does that color our view of the Trump assassination?
The state of our public life described by Kunstler today (Saving Our Democracy)--in which the supposed "accomplishments" of our rulers (he specifies Dems, but it's bipartisan) are objectively destructive to our constitutional order and fitness for action in history--was described way back in 1950 by Eric Voegelin in The New Science of Politics as life in a Gnostic dreamworld, in which the non-recognition of reality has become the first principle. Even those who recognize the objective destruction taking place are mostly blinded to the only real solution.
