Briefly Noted: What Might IG Horowitz's FISA Investigation Mean?
This morning we reported bombshell statements by Joe DiGenova--IG Horowitz's FISA investigation has already concluded that the three extensions of the original FISA warrant were "illegal," and he's now seeking to determine whether the original application was illegal. The release of DoS official Kathleen Kavalec's notes (here ), which DiGenova says were hidden from Horowitz by the FBI, shed dramatic new light on the original application.
DiGenova is confident that indictments will result. I believe that's inevitable, too. Beyond that, however, I believe that anyone who touched any of those FISA applications is, essentially, radioactive. Even if criminal charges cannot be sustained against all of them--and there are many who were involved--their positions at the DoJ and FBI may well prove untenable because of varying degrees of culpability--failure to carry out their duties, lack of candor, etc. My hope is that this will facilitate Barr's necessary house cleaning at both institutions.
