Briefly Noted: Monkeypox--Where Do They Come From?
Don Surber has the answer. I’ve seen information how about this that goes into more detail, but Don’s brief reference should suffice:
ITEM 4: The Sun reported, "Monkeypox outbreak explodes across Europe as cases in Spain and Italy traced to island festival with 80,000 revelers."
It was a gay pride festival.
Now we know why Pride is a deadly sin.
I'm tempted to say that this will all be quickly forgotten as monkeypox isn't all that easy to get. The levels of promiscuity one finds in the gay community can be...unhygienic. However, HIV started out this way, and while it always remained a disease mostly rooted in behavior, the ensuing heterosexual AIDS panic, stoked by the media, went on for some time. I'm not expecting a monkeypox pandemic, but someone might just decide this can be turned into something politically useful. I don't see how, but then I didn't see Coronapanic becoming what it became either.
