Not a lot of people are paying attention to the significance of Sweden and Finland joining NATO. The significance is geographical—it puts American troops within striking distance of Russia’s hugely important ice-free Arctic port of Murmansk, as well as within reach of Russia’s Second City, St. Petersburg. It threatens a naval blockade preventing Russian access to the Atlantic Ocean either from the Arctic or through the Baltic. Obviously any attempt in that direction would have a very high probability of starting a full blown US/Russia war—NATO is largely irrelevant. This is a big deal.
Mikael Valtersson has an excellent brief tweet today that illustrates the type of lunacy that is current in some circles in Finland and Sweden. Would you believe that there are Swedes claiming that the Baltic is now a “NATO lake” and Finns advocating for a “Greater Finland”? Believe it. As I’ve explained in the past, Sweden for centuries was an aggressively expansionist empire in northern and eastern Europe. We in the West may know a bit about Sweden’s role in the incredibly devastating Thirty Years War, but in Eastern Europe Swedish aggression is remembered in light of the Great Northern War. The Poles call that period of their history The Deluge. Swedish imperial ambitions were decisively defeated at the Battle of Poltava—deep in Eastern Ukraine—but lingered until the sight of Russian troops entering Paris in 1814 persuaded Swedes of the virtues of neutrality.
As for Finns, Finland was never an independent country until after WW1. Prior to that point in history Finland was part of Sweden’s Baltic empire, then was part of Russia. Upon achieving independence the Finns immediately launched a war into Russia to create a “Greater Finland.” In the West the usual narrative is of the plucky Finns resisting Russian aggression, but the Finns foolhardiness in attempting to take advantage of the disarray in Russian lands after WW1 led to later events. Swedish and Finnish collaboration in WW2 on the side of the Nazis didn’t help. And now … NATO, and US bases within striking range of Murmansk and St. Petersburg? A Baltic blockade? What are they thinking about? Maybe it’s the long winters that make these people so crazy.

COMMENT DREAMS OF GREAT FINLAND, MARCH 11 2024 This kind of maps will of course scare Russia and make them more positive towards the West, and especially Finland, or the opposite. Besides the provocative nature of this kind of maps, which strengthens Russian resolve, it's totally crazy demographically.
Finland has 5,5 million inhabitants and the claimed territory has 8,8 million inhabitants, most of them ethnic Russians. The new state would have 14,3 million inhabitants with a Russian majority population and St Petersburg as the obvious capital. The Finnish population would be around 40% of the population.
It's nearly as dumb as when Estonian nationalists want to annex St Petersburg. That state would have 9 million inhabitants, of which nearly 90% would be Russian...
And to make it clear. Neither Murmansk, the majority of Karelian republic or St Petersburg has ever been part of Finland or any non Russian state, with the exception of Ingria, where St Petersburg is situated, which belonged to Sweden from 1617 to 1703 (de facto) or 1721 (de jure).

Liberate Finland!
To drive home Valtersson’s point about the definitively Russian character of the lands that Finnish nationalists claim for their fantasy of a Greater Finland, all you need to do is consider the Republic of Novgorod (famously cited by Putin in his Tucker interview). Compare the map above to this map of the Republic of Novgorod c. 1400:
As for Murmansk and the Kola peninsula, Russians were exploring the shores of the White Sea, in this next to uninhabited region, as early as the 12th century. This craziness is what the rulers of the American Empire are involving us in, and hardly anyone is paying attention.
Two guys who are paying attention to the insane miscalculations that seem to be the water that the Deep State denizens swim in, are Danny Davis and Doug Macgregor. I can’t recommend this 45 minutes video enough.

And the same goes for this recommendation from commenter Cassander:
What JFK tried to do before his assassination w/Jeffrey Sachs | The Chris Hedges Report
Spoiler alert. Sachs does come right out and says that he now believes that “rogue elements” of our ruling class were behind the JFK assassination. He also succinctly, and correctly, describes the the CIA as composed of two elements, the first to gather “intelligence” and the second to conduct “private wars”.
Not to mention the heavy presence of US air bases in Norway.
Concerning Kennedy what is often overlooked was his determination to prevent Israel from producing nuclear weapons, even having inspections of Dimona.
The infamous ‘umbrella man’ of the Kennedy assassination strikes an eerie resemblance to Otto Skorzeny, who just happened to work for Mossad.
Not satisfied with Olympics hardware, it appears that the Finns are itching for some decidedly higher-stakes Biathlon. It not being 1939, their results may vary.
