This morning I listened a bit to Larry Wilkerson, with Alexander Mercouris and Glenn Diesen. Before I turned to other things I did pick up on Wilkerson laughing about the Israel - Iran doc leak and stating apodictically that the leak wasn’t really a leak and that no leaker would be found. Instead, he stated that it was an “authorized leak” by the Zhou regime for the purpose of stopping Israel from it’s planned attack on Iran. The curious thing about this is that we had all been led to believe that the US and Israel had come to some agreement on how to attack Iran. If this was a controlled or authorized leak it would seem that the Israelis were going to—as usual—go rogue and ignore what the US thought was agreed upon. Or … maybe that curious 2nd paragraph, info from a foreign power, really was input from Russia to put a stop to it.
Is Blinken’s latest trip to Tel Aviv confirmation of the above? Urging “moderation” when we thought there was an agreed upon US - Israeli way to make war on Iran?
Blinken Seeks To 'Temper' Coming Strike On Iran In 2-Hour Meeting With Netanyahu
Scott Ritter has a new substack that may help explain all this.
The Israeli Intelligence Leaks
An Ugly Glimpse into a Dark Future
Recall that there are some commentators out there who are saying, ‘Hey, no big deal; not much was revealed by the leak.’ Ritter begs to differ. Without getting into the details, Ritter argues that the leaked docs reveal the nature of the planned Israeli attack as well as the method.
Basically, Ritter says that Israeli bombing of Lebanon plus its renewed bombing campaign over Syria, are cover to get others in the region used to Israeli aircraft in the Syrian skies. When the time for the attack on Iran came the Israeli planes would scoot east to launch ALBMs (air launched ballistic missiles) from over western Iraq—that was the technique used in the April attack on Iran, and that would fulfill the element of “surprise” that Israel has been publicly touting. There’s more to this, of course. Ritter also discusses the specific missiles that we can identify from the docs. He then argues that all of this points toward an attack on a target in the Tehran area. Further, he argues that, while there might be a military target, a “decapitation” strike is “more likely”:
An assessment of the missile mix being prepared suggests that Israel is preparing for a major attack against a major military production facility in the vicinity of Tehran (the Parchin missile production facility comes to mind, as well as the Shahid Hemmat Industrial Group) or—more likely—a decapitation strike against Iranian leadership targets in and around Tehran. The ALBM attacks would be supported by armed covert drones which would be used to track mobile targets in real time and engage if necessary, using onboard weapons.
As Ritter notes, Netanyahu has been openly hinting at such a strike by urging Iranians—as he has urged Lebanese—to revolt and stating that the day of “freedom” could “come a lot sooner than people think.” In fact, something like an attempted regime change was attempted by the CIA and Israel back in 2023.
Ritter rates the chances of success—whether for “decapitation” or a revolt—as “slim.” And, in that case, Israel will not only have done nothing to deter Iranian retaliation but will actually make a strong Iranian response more likely. Is that what the real aim is? That’s what we have argued all along. A strong Iranian response is exactly what Israel might use to
Either draw the US into a major war on Iran, or
Justify a nuclear attack on Iran by Israel.
This is the very scenario that the Israeli “Jericho Option” (i.e., nuclear weapons capability) was created for.
The fact is, if Israel launches a decapitation strike against Iran, it will likely fail. The Iranian counterstrike, however, will be very much on target. And the Israeli nuclear retaliation, at that point, becomes probable.
Americans should let this sink in as we ponder the meaning of the leaked intelligence documents. If the purpose of the leak was to wake the American people, and by extension the American government, up about the danger posed by an Israeli strike against Iran, so far it appears that the mission has failed.
In that case, we will reap what we have sown.
Wake up, America.
It’s your future on the line.
Again, is this what the doc leak was intended to head off—perhaps prompted by a warning from Russia, as I have suggested? Is this also what Blinken’s trip to Tel Aviv was also about?
Just finished listening to Macgregor with Judge Nap. In general terms Mac is on board with Ritter's viewpoint presented here. He believes that Netanyahu wants to elicit an Iranian response that will either draw the US in or, very likely, can be used to go nuclear. This, he says, will lead to world war.
11 days to the election.
I’m sure the Biden Administration is doing everything in its power to delay an attack.
