Yesterday a commenter took issue with my assessment of Marco Rubio’s clarion call for former Euro imperial powers to join the US in a neocolonial campaign to make the world safe again for Western dominance.
What I wrote was : "WWII was started by German expansion" - and it was. That is what kicked off the war -
"Germany required " Lebensraum " necessary for its survival - that included both the removal of peoples and the theft of their natural resources. "
- Again, a fact, claimed by Germany - that they required Lebensraum for their survival = this is how they ' justified ' expansion.
----> you can argue that Germany was justified in Lebensraum due to their treatment after WWI - some people do - that was why some countries turned a blind eye when Germany first expanded
many felt bad for Germany and let them expand to the Rhineland in March 1936, Austria (Anschluss) in March 1938, and the seizure of Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland -
It is VERY LIKELY that if Germany Had Stopped There - Rhineland Austria Sudetenland - and that was it - World War II would never have happened. Most Everyone was willing to give them a pass.
But they did not stop.
. These are very simple facts that are not disputed..
I wonder who wrote Rubio's speech. I haven't reviewed Mark's write-ups about it, but I heard it pissed off European leaders. The vid I saw was Rubio constantly looking down at what was written. That is a sign that he did not write it.
I understand the theory about tariffs forcing companies to move back to the US, but who would make that kind of move with someone as untrustworthy as Trump and his cackle of sycophants?
Making a multi-million dollar move back to the States is not worth the risk. In addition, companies are moving their plants wherever they can use cheap labor. As China develops, wages will grow. Vietnam and India are hot right now, so the cheapest labor and almost no environmental regs are the goal.
Since Trump believes this last tranche of Epstein files "exonerated him," he's beyond deluded. Whatever comes into his mind is genius! He claims that his genius is better than generals, so he doesn't listen to them either. Trump's gut instincts are what we elected.
Considering all his bankruptcies and lawsuits, we can't tolerate three more years of his genius. As for his moral compass that goes with his gut instinct, all one needs to do is search the existing files by typing in the word "Trump." ;)
Rubio: " But in 1945, for the first time since the age of Columbus, it was contracting. Europe was in ruins. "
Europe was in ruins because of WWII and GERMAN EXPANSION
Obviously the cities were bombed and invaded to remove the Germans
LEBENSRAUM
Germany required " Lebensraum " necessary for its survival - that included both the removal of peoples and the theft of their natural resources.
Lebensraum (German pronunciation: [ˈleːbənsˌʁaʊm] ⓘ, lit. 'living space') is a German concept of expansionism and Völkisch nationalism, WWII was started by German expansion
At the end of WWII ---- Everyone declared that Germany expansion - Lebensraum - was not appropriate and was a primary cause of World War II
Everyone agreed there would be no expansion like Germany had tried
- That's why the United Nations Grew out of the former group the League of Nations -
They all agreed NO EXPANSION
RUBIO IS BASICALLY DECLARING US MAY DO GERMAN LEBENSRAUM
RUBIO/TRUMP Are Declaring The UNITED NATIONS is worthless and they (US) do not have to follow any treaties made after WWII - and that Lebensraum is appropriate for US Survival.
I do not believe there is any reasonable manner to interpret words and actions any differently.
Rubio is basically telling us all - that's the way it is -
And Trump actions to date - Canada, Greenland, Venezuela
The ' splitting up Ukraine ' with Russia negotiations
The ' splitting up Gaza/Palestine ' for Israel
All of the words and actions scream the same thing.
US needs resources; US will take resources
Rubio " For five centuries, before the end of the Second World War, the West had been expanding ..." " But in 1945, for the first time since the age of Columbus, it was contracting. "
"""""" This is what we did together once before, and this is what President Trump and the United States want to do again now, together with you. """""
---- We expanded before and it worked out well - after 1945 we stopped expanding and we all went in decline --- We expanded together before and we can do that again now to reverse the decline -----
I do not believe there is any other way to interpret Rubio
To ascribe WWII to "Germany's quest for expansion" is gross oversimplification.
"Lebensraum" can not, ought not be mentioned without context.
Two major points of context are the blockade of Germany even after end of fighting, to force Germany to acquiesce to Versailles Treaty. Ralph Raico's review of 'Politics of Hunger' by C Paul Vincent is a useful resource. https://mises.org/mises-daily/blockade-and-attempted-starvation-germany
In all, ~700,000 German civilians died of starvation during WWI, the result of British blockade that included blocking foodstuffs. Approx. 70,000 of those deaths occurred AFTER armistice, while Treaty negotiations were in progress. Germany had no participatory voice at Versailles.
Zionists dominated the proceedings and achieved their goals, goals which have destabilized much of the world ever since.
Woodrow Wilson was effectively sidelined: after the death of 39-year old Mark Sykes in his Paris hotel room, Wilson was so overcome that he, himself, became ill and was unable to participate. Trashed were his 14 Points and promises to Germans of a non-punitive settlement; Trashed were his promises to Arabs of the former Ottoman states of sovereignty: the carefully compiled wishes of those states obtained by King-Crane Commission was shelved until after the Conference. https://www2.oberlin.edu/library/digital/king-crane/intro.html
Germany lost large amounts of territory and resources, required by the State to feed its population and sustain its industrial engine. Herbert Hoover spent over an hour with Hitler & Göring in 1937. (See Freedom Betrayed, Herbert Hoover https://www.hoover.org/research/freedom-betrayed-herbert-hoovers-secret-history-second-world-war-and-its-aftermath ) He came away understanding that the quest for land -- "Lebensraum" -- was a response to the blockades that had killed so many Germans: Never Again would Germany watch her children starve to death.
In summary, the second point of context -- 'cause' of WWII-- was the Versailles Treaty itself.
John Maynard Keynes wrote of The Economic Consequences of the Peace
"A group of German-American architects affiliated with the “Gropius group at Harvard,” including prominent Jewish architects Eric Mendelsohn and Konrad Wachsmann, were employed to design the facility. Both men had been associated with the prominent architectural group der Berliner ZehnerRing [the Berlin Circle of 10, or the Ring] while living in Europe. The Ring included among its members Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe.
"The AN-M50 model of incendiary bomb, extensively tested at the German Village, accounted for more than 97 percent (by number) of the incendiary bombs dropped on Germany by American forces."
German (& Japanese) Village replicated as closely as possible the housing and furnishings of German civilians housing. Furnishings included:
"In the bedroom, the single beds were placed together in pairs, with a crib adjacent, reflective of a young family with an infant. " [p. 16]
USAF, Standard Oil, and the Mendelsohn group of Jewish architects practices firebombing the buildings, testing and perfecting formulas and techniques.
In "The Fire," Jorge Friedrich describes in words and scenes that the intent of the firebombing campaign was overtly stated: to destroy the morale of German civilians in an attempt to force them to overthrow their government. 131 German cities were firebombed, ~70% of Germany's built infrastructure. Churches, libraries, ancient towns and villages were not spared, they were specially targeted, as were rail yards where people gathered in an attempt to escape, after their town having been leafleted that 'they were next, unless they overthrew their government.'
Any of this cause you to think of actions taking place in Gaza or Ukraine today?
What if the Allies had been called to account for the war crimes they committed in the firebombing of Germany?
What if the American people had not been lied to relentlessly about their righteousness in destroying Europe "because Germany was expansionist"?
What I wrote was : "WWII was started by German expansion" - and it was. That is what kicked off the war -
"Germany required " Lebensraum " necessary for its survival - that included both the removal of peoples and the theft of their natural resources. "
- Again, a fact, claimed by Germany - that they required Lebensraum for their survival = this is how they ' justified ' expansion.
----> you can argue that Germany was justified in Lebensraum due to their treatment after WWI - some people do - that was why some countries turned a blind eye when Germany first expanded
in 1934,35,36 many felt bad for Germany and let them expand to the Rhineland in March 1936, Austria (Anschluss) in March 1938, and the seizure of Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland -
It is VERY LIKELY that if Germany Had Stopped There - Rhineland Austria Sudetenland - and that was it - World War II would never have happened. Most Everyone was willing to give them a pass.
But they did not stop.
. These are very simple facts that are not disputed..
"Obviously the cities were bombed and invaded to remove the Germans"
CosmoKat drew a direct comparison to Israel; Joe responded:
"Exactly Israel is both in the murder / removal of population and taking of land to expand. It is directly on point."
So how does the world make judgments; how are Balls and Strikes called:
-Germany sought Lebensraum; that was wrong/caused a war.
-Allies responded by starving Germans and firebombing German civilians
-Germany's civilian, historic, and industrial infrastructure was destroyed, Germany's people were "de-Nazified" in the most brutal way in modern history. The nation remains a de-souled vassal to this day.
-Israel seeks Lebensraum
-Allies respond by funding them, giving them political cover; providing them weapons to firebomb Gaza.
-Zionism is elevated to protected status; in USA, it is a thought-crime, soon to be a punishable offense, to criticize zionism.
I read with great interest the posts on Rubio's speech.
What stands out is the effort to resurrect the goodness of Colonialism (d. 1945) to provide moral cover for the goodness of Israel (b. 1947) just in case there was creeping doubt among Trump voters about the wisdom of colonial projects in the 21st century.
There was a commenter here a few months back describing recent academic projects to establish how Westerners should understand our civilization: it relies on Jewish principles. Christianity is the junior partner in Judeo-Christianity. I think I have seen the fruits of these projects roll out on social media. Western civilization is uniquely better than all the rest in the world... because it was built on the foundation of Athens, Jerusalem, and Rome... co-equally and eternally, as though Rome and Athens do do not have any quarrel with Jerusalem, and we are well within our rights to pick up any tool at any time from any of the three.
Consistent with Lindsey Graham telling the good people of Tel Aviv that America admires and will copy the Israeli way of making war.
Talk about swallowing Trumpian gaslighting hook line and sinker, including the notion that Trump’s tariff shock and awe campaign is somehow designed to reshore America’s industrial base. I'm mystified how writers like Jim Rickards can continue to rhapsodize about Trumpian policies. His entire recent monthly newsletter is devoted to singing the praises of the NSS, the kidnapping of Maduro, coopting Venezuelan oil, etc. He actually believes this shit:
"Trump has written a new corollary to the Monroe Doctrine. He is running Venezuela and has his sights set on Greenland. Trump is launching a new fleet of battleships called Trump Class vessels. (See Byron King’s article in this issue). And his Make America Great Again slogan is a return to the unabashed power the U.S. displayed on the world stage after World War II. Trump is not radically new. He’s a return to what made America great in the past and he is unafraid to use military, legal and financial power to achieve his aims."
Gimme a break. Navarro offers no data to falsify all the other data. He just makes hypothetical assertions. Such as that employment is holding up, whereas the latest revisions revise it drastically downward. There is solid data that falsifies all of his assertions.

Try Morality
It would be nice to think that after a World War in the 1940's where 10's of Millions were killed
That this is 2026
and that we have matured as a people - a world people -
and behavior that was acceptable in the 1940's is not longer acceptable
One cannot justify Israel firebombing refugee tents in 2026 by stating Dresden was burned by the US and UK in WWII
well not in my opinion
On a reality basis 1940's was a WORLD AT WAR with WELL ARMED armies fighting each other
Whether you claim 10,000 or 50,000 Hamas in Palestine they are Not by any means an army - they have to airplanes tanks or ships
and this is by no means a world at war - it is an occupying country trying to gain more land
Palestine is not a war - it is an occupation with the occupied peoples uprising much as the Ghettos during WWII did.
That much is a very simple fact.
